this season of australian survivor is true chaotic gameplay

every episode is a clusterfuck of people trying to create insane split votes

Thoughts pre-commercial break:

They have a LOT of faith in Tevin to give him that whole introductory monologue. Nami gets four confessionals in this segment, Yanu gets four, and meanwhile, Siga gets NO confessionals other than Charlie, and then Jem at the last moment before the commercial.

Nami BEASTED that challenge, too. Hunter looked like a really strong player in his heat, managing to run the course twice and putting Nami in the lead going into the puzzle (and that's before they beasted the puzzle too).

Also, it seemed like the tribes did a much better job on the "slide the flint up an elevated pole" portion of the challenge than in previous seasons.

Man, BOTH tribes failed their sweat/savvy challenge, and not the double challenge like last season. I mean, admittedly, the savvy challenge was rough, since you had no word list and the numbers were designed to fool the players. But "Jelinsky" giving up before the halfway mark is NOT a good look for him, especially as one of the supposed tough guys on the tribe.

Yeah, Jalinsky was a wimp. Did Q even agree to quitting or did Jalinsky just throw the hourglass on his own?

So last season we had a montage of eighties dudebro music, and now we get a full Andy Griffith reference.

Real battle of the sexes vibe so far. On multiple tribes. God though, can we NOT just compare people to Parvati as a justification for targeting them? There are other female winners. And you don't see men getting criticized in the same way.

She's allergic to coconut and applied for Survivor?!

Jelinsky has proven pathetic physically AND strategically now. Holy shit.

So Jelinsky has no vote, and now Tiffany has no vote until she finds the key for her idol box. I swear, if this majority alliance somehow managed to Vati themselves...I mean, it'd be funny as fuck, but still...Jesus.

I'd love it if the majority managed to Vati themselves, since Bhanu and Jess are my two favorites on that tribe.

Did that TAR commercial just spoil something from the final leg?

Jesus, Nami is just DOMINANT. Holy shit, these first two challenges haven't even been close.

Meanwhile, how is Yanu this bad? They look like they should be stronger than this.

Jelinsky with the Brandon edit of failing three times in a single episode.

If Jess goes out first, it's a predictable first boot (young East Asian girl...it's a trend).

If Jelinsky goes out, this is an amazing first boot edit.

Man, I genuinely thought the edit was setting up Jelinsky as the fake-out and Jess was the obvious boot. But wow, he just managed to do EVERYTHING wrong that episode, holy shit.

He was Brandon if Hannah and Emily weren't on the same tribe.

I'd say he's even worse than Brandon.

Heck, I'm gonna go out and say it, I think Jelinsky might just be THE worst Survivor player of all time. I usually hear names like Wendy Jo or Amazon Janet thrown out for that title, but they were just kinda generically bad players who weren't good at anything. This kid was so aggressively terrible at every single aspect of the game and at every possible turn deliberately said and did the opposite of what good Survivor gameplay dictates, and then unironically tried to defend it all, actually believing it was good gameplay. One of the most deserving first boots ever and the edit absolutely massacring him at every turn made this such an enjoyable night of Survivor.

I thought Zane was generally the consensus for worst Survivor player ever? But I can totally agree that Jelinksy gives Zane a run for his money.

I can KINDA see what Zane was doing. In a way, he took a big gamble and lost. If it had worked, it could have paid off in the long run. Jelinsky was just terrible.

I agree. Lulu and whatever the purple tribe in 44 was called were clearly, at a glance, the weakest tribes of their respective seasons, but these tribes look pretty balanced, so it's weird to see them all so far apart in results.

I think the producers probably thought that Jelinksy would be stronger than he actually was. It's another situation like with Manu and Wardog.

And Tika wasn't really that bad, even after losing their strongest member to a fluke injury in the first challenge. It was after they lost Carson at the swap where it really started to fall apart.

Came in here to roast Jelinsky.

I actually didn't hate this episode. Survivor has honestly gone to the dogs recently but I did like that they added a "mafia" element with the journey challenge. I'm really mad that Jelinsky folded though. The dude was in a four person alliance and they immediately turned on him over someone who couldn't form coherent sentences, so it just goes to show how terrible of a player he was.

Agree with darkx btw. The editing on him was great and he got served a nice slice of humble pie.

This feels kind of unfair to say. I for one am always glad to see some neurodivergent representation on the show and I hope Jess actually finds her niche in this group and doesn't get treated the way many of them do.

Jess was kind of a mess with the whole not sleeping thing, but Jelinksy said in his interviews that he was both allergic to coconuts and lost his water bottle, so I'm not sure how much longer he could've lasted unless he pulled an Angelina and asked for Jess's water bottle.

I really can't recommend this season of Australian Survivor enough.

nah i'm all for nd players. she was just clearly sleep deprived and couldn't think properly. and was on the outs of pretty much any alliance. Jelinsky just sucked that badly to where such an easy target was spared. i am actually rooting for Jess as well, and maybe being stuck with such a dunce will be her saving grace. sorry if that came out the wrong way

People play WAY too damn hard early on...like, why did you need to do that, Kenzie?

Nami's cockiness is fucking delightful. I love seeing some friction between tribes and between players on the show.

Jelinsky still catching strays

I am way behind because my dad jilted me. We just watched the premiere on Monday. (The wreck of Jelinsky was certainly something! The editors had a lot of fun with him, too.)

Randen finding the idol is UGH. Venus is great - yes part of that is because she's hot - but that does not make her Parvati 2.0. Randen labeling her that because he could never end up with her is horrendous.

Other favorites include Bhanu, Jess, Maria, and... I think that's it. Tevin maybe for that opening montage? It's early, it's hard to know who I truly like.

Kenzie went from having a winner's overture to being a boot edit. I was thinking the alternative was that she's out next.

And despite the flashbacky nonsense, this episode has had plenty of fun camp scenes! This Metallica vs. T-Swift thing is hilarious.

This challenge seems REALLY hard.

The hardest part is probably the puzzle.

It was hard enough last season with ONE person stacking a miniature version of it but getting five people on the same page... even harder.

I think it stands out, looking at them all standing as a group...Bhanu is the tallest member of the tribe? Yet he was stationed at the shortest part of the puzzle, leaving all the short women to try and hold more pieces up themselves.

It looked like they put Jess there first and kicked her off at some point. Still, should've been Tiffany there instead of Bhanu.

Oh my God, the idol grab from last episode makes a return in a flashback, as an actual plot point. Fucking AMAZING.

I think Venus is being set up to mutiny to another tribe... or something like that.

Also I am starting to not like Tevin because he's just dismissing her injury as irrelevant and her as "drama." Hello? If you got hurt and nobody cared, wouldn't you feel gaslit?

I love the drama, even if I don't like one side worsening it.

This scene is fucking hilarious. Tiffany is pointing Jess towards the idol, and she's just...not seeing it or not trying.

Should've hidden it more in plain sight rather than just sticking it where the real idol was.

I'm loving how much negativity there is this episode. So many mean-spirited characters makes for more interesting television than a bunch of positive sob stories.

Yeah, Kenzie is definitely overplaying. She thinks she's this genius strategist but then she does things like telling Tiffany "there's no time to vent, let's talk about Tribal."

Tiffany is also being transparently sketchy with Jess. It would be incredible if Jess got Bhanu and Q to blindside Kenzie. Tiffany's jaw would hit the floor. Especially if Jess plays the fake idol on top of that and they go from laughing to WTF. That may be an all-time blindside just because of the sheer drama.
