The only modern title Ive enjoyed at all was a non mainline game, World of Final Fantasy. That was the only game that played like the classics I like. The OG VII is one of my favorite games of all time and always will be. Plus adding dumb wacky characters just to be wacky didn't gel with me. The combat was shifting away from straight turn based for awhile so that is w/e to me. He's not a super fan of final fantasy, but he said he's sorta interested in the remakes so I'm trying to convince him by saying I'll buy copies of remake and rebirth for him if he'll let me play through rebirth.
