The Smokehouse Fire has torn across hundreds of thousands of acres of Texas land since igniting Monday afternoon. Its explosive spread is tied directly to the dry, warm and windy conditions that dominated the Texas Panhandle Monday and Tuesday.
Since the fire started, it has spread at an average rate of 150 football fields every minute.

I suppose Texas will once again be asking for Federal dollars and help from neighboring states to help put out this fire...

Times like these you would think these idiots yelping about Texas seceding from America would take a moment like this to realize it's not all murdering brown immigrants and letting school shooters go to town while your cops cower in fear... there's more to governing a functioning society.

It's the wind. It picks up and carries stuff that's already burning and drops it further away.

Or blame it generically on windmills, which I'm sure Texas has specific legislation to prevent or stifle in the first place.

Assuming their facility is doing everything properly: nothing that bad. Like, obviously everything burning is a problem but if they have all of the dangerous materials that they can't take away insulated properly there shouldn't be the the apocalypse-like result that comes to mind when someone hears about problems from a nuclear facility.

That said, I don't want to say the betting odds about the facility actually doing everything properly. That costs money and this is Texas.

The nukes will be fine. The place is built such to account for fires starting on the inside. Worst case scenario they'll have to build a completely new bunker. This will just come out of the defense budget though. It won't impact anything else.

The damage to the surface of the state in general is the real problem. Technically if this happened in the middle of the cold war, USSR might have used it as a tactical advantage but we don't really have anything like that to worry about.
