I don't even have a credit card. I've never had one, so my credit is mostly nonexistent.

I just don't like them.

Never. I have a card that I put all my monthly purchases on to get the cash back but I pay it off every month. I treat it like cash. Im turning 48 soon and Ive never paid a penny in interest on a credit card in my entire life.

The only things I didnt buy outright and pay for that month were my house and my truck which are both fully paid off now but I did have loans on those.

I only use credit cards to pay for bills, to build up my credit, then pay them off at the end of the month.

maybe in the future, though.

I have used a credit card to buy large, expensive items, that cost too much to come out of a monthly budget.

I don't consider that to be 'more than I can afford', as I had no problem meeting repayments.

No really, no

i think finding a way to break that feeling of needing something ordered is important

once you get what you ordered not much really changes but that dopamine rises so maybe thats needed imo

also your money do what ever you wish

I try to space out my $ but yes I like to order things that help with the mind

Nope. I only have a CC for sites that require it, in my country we normally only use debit cards and iDeal. Got said CC from a foreign bank that doesnt charge for the usage but havent even used said card in years because I use PayPal now that just takes the required amount from my debit card on the spot.

Also I really like my current CC since it gives me bonus points on gas and groceries, so things I was going to buy anyways, and just now bought myself a timegrapher for essentially 10 dollars as a late gift to myself.

I barely use mine, mostly for online shopping or digital purchases or subs, and I pay weekly.

I would use it for everything but the lag for transactions to post makes it not worth the hassle, ideally i could pay on credit card and pay off the credit card immediately

If I have to pay credit card interest, I simply won't buy it until I have enough saved up to pay the statement balance in full. Exception is if there's a same as cash financing option available like my new fridge.

You're basically inviting yourself to never be eligible for a loan or a mortgage. Start building your credit before it's too late.

Mortgage loan maybe but you can 1000% get an auto loan or other type of loan with little no credit.

No credit is better than bad credit. Someone will lend to you.

So many people don't want their money to work for them. It's upsetting.

You should be making 5% interest on your cash and at least 1.5% cash back on every purchase.

You're not doing that without credit cards or cash management accounts. Your money won't grow in a bank and your debit card has no protections if you ever get fucked by a purchase.

1.5% is peanuts. Its not enough to change behavior. On 100K thats only $1500 back.

I do agree with interest and purchase protections though.

Modern society has conditioned most people to accept perpetual debt as normal and even good. Like you literally cannot find housing accomodations unless you have this stupid thing called a "credit score," even if you have enough money to just pay a year of rent up front.

It is stupid when you think about it.

no, the only time I've ever used credit cards is when I am already planning on making a large-ish purchase, and there are cards with those introductory instant cash-back or rebate deals happening.

that way, it's basically a huge coupon for something I was planning on buying anyway. then I'll pay off the bill immediately and never touch the card again.

Lots of cards have reward programs. If you can pay it off every month then you can afford it and not using it is just leaving money on the table.

I get 5% back on every Amazon purchase I make, for example.

I've never carried a credit card balance (i.e. I pay it off every month), but I use mine all the time. I just got a free flight to Europe from accumulated points. It'd be dumb not to utilize that unless you physically cannot control your spending. There's also a lot more fraud protection from my credit card than my debit card, among a ton of other benefits.

At least 1.5% for non category spend. 3% for dining is also essential. And then 3 to 5% for gas, groceries, rotating categories, portal travel, etc. Maybe 10% for rental cars if you like full price booking.
