I have gas, but having cooked on an induction stovetop that was great. Is there a better electric oven out there than just a resistance heating oven?

With limited electric oven experience, I can't make a fair assessment. Working in a gas-related industry, I am biased towards gas just because gas-carrying components tend to last a bit longer, but I am not opposed to trying an electric oven if available. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I honestly did not know that electric ovens were a thing, but it makes sense. I may want one, once we get a condo.
I don't think I'll EVER get an induction range though, because I'm too terrified of cracking the glass and then needing to buy a new one (I tend to slam my pans on my stove a lot out of habit: dunno if I cpuld get out of that). I do recognize that they are superior in bringing water to boil when compared to gas stoves, though. What makes electric ovens so good/bad? Ovens, don't have a preference. Stove top I like gas better because it feels like you have better temperature control. Plus you can still use gas in a power outage.

100% gas for a stove top. When you turn the burner off its immediately off. I like my temperature control to be by judging the flame, plus it doesnt cycle on and off like most electric stove tops. Gas responds quickly to temperature changes. Ability to use gas in a power outage is nice. As long as its not a newer model that prevents you from lighting the pilot light by hand.
The other thing I like with gas stove is I can utilize the heavy duty cast iron burners and put my heavy duty large pressure canner on the stove. This was a big advantage over the electric burner elements or the sealed burners with glass cooktops that cant handle the weight. The steady temperature control of gas is a huge advantage when pressure canning as well. I have had electric stoves and cooked on them fine. I like them. I just think gas has a couple advantages. --- PSN ID: sled_dogs76 60" Pioneer Kuro Elite PRO151FD, Yamaha RX-V3900 A/V Receiver, Oppo DV983-H player.
