Make it easier to vote and people vote? Nah, that can't be it. /sarcasm

It being a pandemic was also pretty motivating.

Coupled with Trump really firing people up, both in support (by assholes) and opposition (by people who are rightly terrified of getting another 4 years of it, and possibly more).

2020 was a very important election and people knew it. This year will be just as important if not more so.

People vote more during national crises. They're looking to the government for solutions.

People really, really, really fucking hate Trump. This is easy to understand for literally everyone on the planet except for Trump cultists.

What makes this year important? There is no bipartisan welfare being proposed this time around. What can be done through reconciliation?

It was only barely bipartisan.

Trump purposes $2000 checks.
Biden says it's a great idea.

Trump got cucked by Mitch McConnell.

Biden wins.
Both senators in Georgia win their runoff elections.
The checks get passed with simple majority due to reconciliation

This year is important because if Trump wins there will literally never be another election again and they are very clear about it. Not sure what you're even yapping about nor does it matter, dumb as shit.

Sigh. Welfare checks are not what makes this year important. Elections in general are important. What makes this one significantly more important is the threat that is Trump. There are plenty of registered voters don't want another 2017-2021 term.

Why didn't Mitch McConnell just let Trump actually give out the $2000 checks? How is Trump going to do anything without the Senate or House? He couldn't even get his Republican Senate Majority Mitch to give him a sure win plus a Georgia senator or two.

It was easier to vote yes but it was mostly

  1. people were sick of Trump
  2. people were sick of Trump specifically because of what he had done in 2020, with how badly he had bungled Covid and also his disgusting response to the George Floyd protests (probably not as much of a factor as Covid, but definitely some of his worst PR in a year he was already filled with bad PR).
  3. also because of Covid and the massive derailing that had towards the entertainment industry (one of the main deflections away from politics - there was hardly any escapism), a lot more people had their eyes on politics than normal. so a lot more people were aware of the bad stuff mentioned above than they would be normally.
