And they made a bunch of straight up baffling changes to the story. colliding 02/24/24 6:22:00 PM #4:	the consensus (so far) is that they're both really good they are not faithful remakes, though they have the same general locations and story progression. they should be thought of as "companions" of the original and not necessarily new versions of the same game. And the combat is over-designed - too many character mechanics and cooldowns that dont actually add any real depth. And just all the new additions suck. The whisper ghosts, Roche, president hanging out the window, Sephiroth appearing all the time, multiverse nonsense - it all sucks. Who even asked for all this shit? Why couldnt we just get Final Fantasy VII remade? So yeah Im not even gonna play Rebirth lol. Well turn-based RPGs are a dying breed so as a fan of the genre it makes sense to be upset that more and more series that were turn-based have gone action. That being said FF went down that road long ago so it's a little late for that. imo FF7R kinda sucked but a lot of people liked it, so I guess the consensus would be that it's a good game. Bosses specifically have this, "Better figure out our thing, or spend half an hour fighting this guy." There's also this issue of difficulty spikes.
