That is crazy tbh It wasn't a rumor, it was a quote from a Sony exec that was taken out of context. The ones who took it out of context took "the PS5 is in the later stages of its life cycle" as in the system is about to be replaced. But that's not what he meant: chronologically speaking, the PS5 is in the second half of its life cycle, not the end. And likely it will go a year or two beyond what is normally expected, I bet. This is year 4 of the PS5 life cycle, which typically, consoles last around 8 years. So they mean it is in the second half of its lifecycle and that sales should start plateauing as more people buy it. It is not on the way out, I would actually say it is hitting its stride now. If you have a PS4, you can play a lot of games in a much better manner in terms of performance and resolution, especially ones latter in the life. Even though exclusives are clearly becoming more and more rare, it still has almost all 3rd party games and a small number of actual exclusives like Spiderman 2 and upcoming FF7 Rebirth (both, I'm assuming, are timed).
