back in the late 2000s/early 2010s I had a friend who fell down the conspiracy rabbit hole. He'd go on about how big and powerful the government (NWO) was. At the same time though, he'd advocate standing up to and fighting them to protect our rights.

Which just made no sense. Either they're so big and powerful you can't fight them or they're weak enough to fight and thus can't be as big/powerful as you say. <_<
