Why does every movie need to have Marvel style comedy now? It's getting really old.

Marvel neither invented or popularized the idea of the action comedy.

As soon as the casting for Lilith and Roland was announced I was less interested. Then when I saw the rest of the cast I was even less interested, pissed really. Then when I saw the trailer my hope died. If, and that's a big if, I watch this it will be a five dollar rental only

I admit I've not played the Borderlands games, but this seems a weird complaint because I am aware they're very comedy-focused

The first game played it straight-laced, and was largely boring. Since then they've gone for the 'zany' vibe.

As for this show, it seems to be blending bits from Borderlands 1, 2, and even a bit of 3(that one bandit looked a bit like Mouthpiece). I wonder if they'll have a short cameo with the Zaffords or Hodunks.

The action looks great - appropriately silly/over the top. It's pretty much guaranteed to suck and bomb, though.

Aside from Blanchett just feeling really out of place to me, I don't really care about the casting... BUT, it looks like they dialed back Tiny Tina's craziness to "lol quirky teen", which is my biggest personal gripe based on the trailer (outside of the general "it's gonna suck" vibe). I imagine we'll get teases of other characters at some point; either throwaway cameos or sequel bait.

Wat? The first was ridiculous too. The issue with the first game was that it was non-stop fetch quests and didn't really have an ending or conclusion. It was still a blast, but after hearing about a vault full of loot for the entire game, what we got was a huge letdown.

Thankfully they fixed some of the issues of finality in the dlcs which were all quite good.

It looks like it's set up to be like a family road trip movie. Why?

DLC did provide for that later, both the armory that people learned to glitch into and the openly respawning gift shop basement.

I love Borderlands and ... actually want to see this. Don't think it's Oscar material but it looks like a fun ride. Definitely better than the Ghostbusters and Warcraft trailers.
