I just stumbled onto The Predator(2018?) ... and realized I have never watched it cause I thought it was just the Original with Arnold for some reason. I've seen every other Predator movie including AvPs and Prey but yeah .... my point is I hope nobody bases there premises of Predator franchise off "The Predator".

Soon as I seen a certain character that picked up a soldiers gun and shot them with it I almost shut it off.

The Predator had 1, and only 1 good scene. The first reveal of the predator being drenched in blood.

Nothing else about the movie is worth seeing. I don't know how it was actually ever given approval to be made. It's so stupid.

I havent seen it so cant say. Apparently the studio felt it was too much like a Shane Black movie and reshot and cut out vast swaths of it to make it better.

They either really fumbled trying to make it better, or the original was going to be one of the worst movies ever made.

From the Wikipedia plot summary. Though it's also explained in the movie too.

Bracket concludes that the Predators are attempting to improve themselves with the DNA of humans and, presumably, other planets' inhabitants. She also suggests that Rory's autism enables him to translate and understand Predator technology.

The Predator takes Rory, assuming his autism as an advancement in human evolution which makes him a worthwhile subject for hybridization

Its weird to think at one point Shane Black was the highest paid and most sought after writer in Hollywood.

The Predator is probably the most offensive movie I have seen in a while and yes the way it handles autism has been criticized since day 1 by both critics and anyone who watched the movie.

Yeah I never seen a trailer or even hear anyone else talk about this installment... like I said I was just scrolling thru and clicked it cause it said 2018 and was like i know this isn't the original.....

Yeah it's arguably the worst movie in the entire franchise. It makes AvP Reqiuem look like a competent movie. It can't even hold a candle to Predators with Adrien Brody.

The Predator was not just full of inconsistencies but also painfully predictable at least AvP Requiem had some shock by killing a child and body horror pregnancy.

The one thing I was curious about was the fate of the alien dog they befriended... they show him fighting the predator at the end and all we hear is a whine

Honestly all of them except the og and the newest are worth skipping. I think I heard somewhere they're making a sequel to the new one.

I still think AVP:R is the worst pile of shit in the series, far worse then The Predator because it tries to be offensive, and flat out disgusting. The Predator is stupid, dumb, and offensive but it never crosses the lines of go fuck yourself you insensitive prick that AVP Requiem does.

I would sit through The Predator again but I will never watch AVP:R again, I really hate that pile of worthless shit.

Predator takes place in the jungle, AVP 1 takes place in the Arctic.

Movies shouldn't be remade unless it's a passion project, but too often it's because the studio needs to put something out or they loose the license.

You'd think putting out trash to honor a deal would ultimately harm the brand - not saying The Predator was trash, but it definitely didn't need to be made to tell some great story or recognize a vision. The original still holds up remarkably well... even the visual effects look better than most modern movies because they stayed within a scope.

The original version definitely would have still made some people upset but it was at least something different, instead of soft remaking the original like the other movies. I don't remember all the details but it's basically mercenaries teaming up with Predators to fight other Predators. The studio came in when it was mostly finished and absolutely eviscerated it in the editing room and forced reshoots to make it into a completely different movie. The final product is a barely comprehensible Frankenstein movie. That said, I still think it's pretty decent. Some solid action and kills and fun characters with snappy Shane Black dialogue. Would have loved to see the original though.

They should make a movie where the humans team up with 2 good predators to hunt both bad bloods on the loose, and a xenomorph infestation. Yes this idea is inspired by the Alien Vs Predator arcade game from way back in the day.
