Gonna get some furniture for the house and put some in savings and investments. This was the rest of the solar tax credit from last year.

The IRS got me my money pretty quickly. I submitted my taxes last Wednesday.

Nice, I've noticed they've been getting the returns back within a few days in the last several years. I haven't filed yet this year, still waiting on one more item I think. But maybe by the end of the month I'll have everything I need.

Unless your getting tax credits back...You guys realize getting money back is not good right lol?

I'd rather the government didn't get a 12-month interest free loan from me because Lord knows they wouldn't do the same for me.

This. You either didn't pay enough taxes and owe money or you gave them too much and get a refund. You should strive for $0 prior to tax credits.

Just finished filing my taxes now. Looking at a juicy $3,843 coming my way. Appreciate the IRS keeping my money safe for me.

I like getting a refund better personally, it forces me to live on a little less throughout the year and then I get a nice windfall in February right before I get my yearly work bonus in March.

Just filed mine about an hour ago, getting $3889 this year.

Getting my yearly bonus at the end of this month too, won't know the exact amount but roughly $4000 after taxes.

Gonna use all this money to get some smaller debts knocked out and replenish my emergency fund that got wrecked last year

Nice! I get bonuses quarterly at my job, and the first one of the year is coming next month. Then I should be getting an escrow refund check in April because people in Texas voted for a property tax cut. Good times.

Meh, it's not a significant enough amount of money to impact my life if I was just getting / keeping that much extra each month. But it's enough extra that I would splurge a bit, where as getting a solid chunk once a year means I can plan what to do with it.

Now if you're one of those "I understand finances and plan my financial well being instead of just buying stuff and spending money when I feel like it or see an extra few dollars" people, well. Good for you, being a responsible adult.

Just imported our W2s. Without the child tax credit, the amount of taxes owed and amount of taxes paid was actually within $100 of each other, nice.

I spent years trying to perfect my W4 so I'd get near-zero in terms of owing or getting refunded and every damn year I ended up owing like $500-800 so I said fuck it and went back to claiming nothing for the fat check.

And TurboTax pissed me off this year lol I had to pay like $50 to upgrade so I could include my 1099 for selling stock, which also brought my refund down like $45 T_T

I switched from TurboTax to FreeTaxUSA a couple years ago. I'm never gonna use TurboTax again.

When I knew we were going to owe I'd still get it done ASAP and just pick the last possible day for the payment to come out, that way I was at least prepared for how hard I'd be getting bent over for a few months

I think I'm going to owe like $2k and I have no idea how because neither me or my wife took any allowances on our W-4s. I can only think one of our companies didn't take the right amount of taxes or we got bumped into a higher bracket or something.
