Good game. Dare I say, UNDERRATED.

Why do birds fly?

It's my favorite Tales game.

It came after one of the worst ones, in an era full of botoriously bad jrpgs.

Berseria is the best modern Tales game (which isn't saying much). Its biggest problem is that you can only really appreciate its story if you suffered through Zestiria first.

Overrated imo

It was my first Tales game. Liked it a LOT more than Arise.

I've tried Symphonia, Graces, and Zestiria and the games just never grab me. I own Berseria but just can't bring myself to try it.

This. Berseria isn't underrated at all since all the internet does is praise it and if you have a bad thing to say about it then you're wrong. I still can't get over how you go from arguably the best combat in the series with Xillia 2 to Zestiria and Berseria's system.

Just finished playing it last week. Great game. Made a lot of improvements over Zestiria.

i actually like the weird progression and actually like that the game shuffles the party around. i don't how ludger has way more options than everyone else (he is fun though). i'd rather have a gun and hammer user over a character with three weapons and i wish nonmcs got more linked artes between each other

i think power charge 2 (whatever the passive that forces a combo) to be way too centralizing in the later parts of the game and makes lategame pretty samey

i like the game even if i think it's kinda lame. the idea of fractured dimensions is cool and i like the idea of "what if" scenarios being used for character growth, but the game is too lazy in its reuse and most of the world is simply not worth exploring outside of elite monsters. i think they made double downed on the bad parts of muzet's character too

It was alright. I generally liked the characters and the first two-thirds of the game, but after that...naw.

Are you sure your not confused with Aries...which had the most boring plot and cast in the series in some time?

Beseria 's cast had there...quirks but they had some of the most going to them then most in the series.

Berseria's cast is probably its strongest point, everyone is great and playing a bunch of people who are mostly kind of assholes was hugely refreshing for a JRPG.

the game barely even attempts to make them come off as assholes. even in the first few hours you see velvet do good things and you can see she's a good person.

the rest of the cast is more aloof than dickish. eleanor and laphicet are kinda unambiguously good people and eizen is a nice guy that just prioritizes his goal first and foremost. the game never really hints at him being an asshole and they play off his dorky love of insects really quickly

Tales of Arise is the game after Beseria...in which just about all of the cast is rather generic and the enemies are more generic then even the bad guys in the first few Tales of games.

I really don't get how anyone can think Arise has a better story...the entire second half falls apart completely plot wise and the central enemy is a generic monster as bad as those from the 8 bit days and funny enough about calling Beseria edgy when Aries's plot is just redoing most of Symphonia, Rebirth, and Xilla's " war between two groups" plot with all the charm sucked out to make it more" real."

It was definitely a better game in the franchise. It's nice playing as the villains once in a while.

Where's my Graces F remaster though?

Yeah I liked arise a lot. I'd put it as my 3rd favorite behind vesperia and Symphonia. Just above abyss

The plot for arise, including the second half, was interesting to me

Arise is my first Tales game and I enjoyed it. Made me curious about the other games, especially Berseria, but according to other players Berserias story is just a tragedy. Not a fan of pouring dozens of hours into a game and ending up feeling sad/tragic, so I skipped Berseria.

tales is an action series with an RPG dressing
has been since phantasia
it is, has been, and prolly always will be, shonen anime in video game form
and enemy balance issues aside, arise has arguably the most enjoyable combat system in the series
only fgc weirdos like line combat
