Sunhawk topic aside, I also did not have much fun in the depths. Didnt feel like there was a lot to do or see, the sun bulb mechanic felt tedious, it all looked samey.

Admittedly, I think they did need more stuff and actual quests down there, but holy shit the shock of discovering a literal overworld-sized underworld existed was awesome, and coming across armored Lynels was a great mid- to late-game challenge.

Also, the brass horn falling down there was always great.

The treasure maps identifying special armor and the like was a neat touch, too.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Absolute dog shit. Remove it from the game and work on the sky area more cause it's also sparse.

I had an absolute blast in the depths.
They were probably my favorite part of the game.

I enjoyed Totk, but the depth was really quantity over quality. It's fun to screw around, but it got old fast

Horrible. Before I thought the game I fantasized about large underground mazes, very narrow tunnels and stuff. What we got was the opposite.

For the most part, yes. The Depths and The Sky were poorly made and use tons of copy/paste.

It got boring for me the more I stayed around there. Should have more stuff to do in the sky areas though.

It's the problem with so many games nowadays. A lot of them copy and paste just to make the game longer so a lot of locations ends up feeling the same

I mean it's fun for the first 40 or so hours. Lotta cool shit to discover. The auto builds are great and really incentivized me to explore. I had a lot of fun with that big sidequest and discovering the weird poe statue things

the sidequest for throwing the eyes down to the statue was cool. the first time i went down there, i had no resources, no prior knowledge of the depths, and loading the eye onto those minecarts with nothing but a lamp glued to it, traveling on rails through pitch black darkness was scary, but really fun

Getting Masterbuild beneath the Great Plateau and unlocking the robot pal Sage were some of the first things I did in the game (I always prioritize everything but the critical path in open-world games), so my enjoyment of the Depths was very front-loaded. The Depths then got reaaaally tedious even by my standards. But once I figured out that all the lightroots corresponded to a shrine on the surface, I took an afternoon and speedran discovering the rest. There were still a couple surprises - seeing a Colgera rematch appear out of the darkness was fun. So my opinion of the Depths ended up being overall positive.
