Should I splurge for the big boy, or just save a bunch of money and live with 512?

512TB is a sufficient amount of space, I think.

Game sizes being what they are nowadays, even 1 TB drives feel way too small. If it was me, I'd splurge.

But I guess that depends on what kind of stuff you plan to play on the Deck.

I tried a 512 GB card and it's just not the way. Gotta go 1 TB.

Granted my Deck was a 256 GB model since I didn't want the matte screen on the 512. >_>

Don't skimp on the 1tb drive, get a name branded one. Not from Wish or other places.

I don't have a steam deck, but shouldn't it be easy to hotswap the SD card? if so, I'd just get the 512gb and another if needed later. I think the 512gb Samsung MicroSD is on sale on Amazon now for like $25 too.

1TB all day. Especially with Steam being so easy to fire and install games, you'll be shocked at how fast 500GB goes.

Most modern games are 80-120gb. Looking at my catalog, Warhammer 3, Baldurs Gate 3 and Anno 1800 would take up your drive. Or the newest CoD + GoW 2018 would do it alone.

I'm looking at the Lexar Play 1TB. It's on sale for 70 right now, but I'm not sure if it's a good one.

I got the 1TB and have been using microSDs. I think 512 + cheap cards is okay, but more space is more space!

Note that there's been tales of Decks messing up the formatting on cards for some reason, and I have no idea if that still applies. I bought a couple a few denominations smaller than 1TB for that reason (never had any trouble myself with formatting myself, though). Just something to think about or research.

Bigger is better. Also understand the deck sucks up a ton of space on stuff like shaders.

I'd avoid lexar, every microSD or flash drive I've gotten from them ended up failing pretty fast.

A year ago my deck corrupted my sd card and I couldn't recover anything. I know they're hot swappable but from then on I never bothered to take out the card for file transfers. Even if it takes longer I'd rather use desktop mode and a USB to move files

You can find 1TB A2 cards for $50-60 by Silicon Power. Mine has 180GB free and I did not have to pay the SanDisk/Samsung tax.
