The major chains like Walgreens understaff and overwork their staff to the bone to the point where it was only in the last couple years that they were forced to give pharmacists a lunch. Walgreens makes over 75% of their revenue on prescription sales, the front end retail portion is mostly based on beauty sales. The other shit is just considered self serve convenience items and they're monitored by KPIs but are only a fraction of how a store is performing. That's why a shift lead who basically counts money and voids transactions makes less than a new uncertified pharmacy tech off the street.
