that don't require cooking? I gotta start making my own food at home instead of eating take out all the time to save money. Fast food is expensive these days and take out items are around $15 each for small portion. And not only making food at home but make it fast

I found that if you use high quality bread they greatly improved the sandwich as a whole. I like a good Italian loaf. You can cut as much or as little as you want, and the taste adds so much to the sandwich.

Restaurant quality chicken wings can be done in 13 minutes with an air fryer.

If you want something really fast, consider making sammiches and using the broiler setting with your oven.

Good bread is the key to a good sandwich. Plasticky white stuff or cardboard brown will never be great, no matter what you put in it.

Also, do get an air fryer. If you're cooking for one or two people, they are really cheap to run and make delicious food.

Basically you need a few things. You need good quality bread and heat application. I know you don't want to cook but all bread is horrible when you don't at least toast it. Get one of those lean mean grilling machines. They can sit on your counter and there's basically no cleanup.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/c/c61a50e3.jpg

Even a small one works fine and you're not really cooking you're just assembling the sandwich and closing the lid and letting it toast.

Second thing I suggest is this:
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/4/46168ea2.jpg

That will help you assemble quick easy fast vegetables/fruits very finely sliced. You might still have to cut a tomato, but remember the trick with all of these is to make the slices as thin as possible.

Last find you a recipe for a panini that sounds good. Heck I made an amazing ham, apple and gruyere cheese sandwich topped with mayo that was mixed with whole grain mustard and fresh thyme and that blew my socks off.

If you want another recipe that's actually cheap I know an open-face tuna recipe that will blow your socks off

It can, but it really depends on what youre filling it with. Buttering the bread creates a barrier, for instance.

Im not strictly anti-toasting, but claiming that all bread is bad unless you toast it is crazy.

2 cans of tuna, 3tbsp of mayo, chopped celery or pickles.

makes 3 sandwiches, or 4 tuna melts.

Poke + rice is pretty filling and cheap. If you get half a pound you're looking at a $3 or $4 lunch. But you'd have to eat it right away.

if you like deli meats, get them from the deli, fresh sliced. dont buy the overly processed and preserved packaged shit in the coolers. it invariably tastes like shit in comparison.

same with pickles if you like those. buy the ones in the refrigerated section, not the jars in the dry aisles.

bread varies. some sandwiches are fine on some basic ass white bread. sweet hawaiian, ciabatta, sourdough are good if you like something a bit more "artisanal". toasting is a preference and depends on the sandwich and the bread.

if you like your cheese melted, kick the broiler in your oven on high and slide the sandwich in on a baking sheet ( open with cheese facing the heating element ofc)

italians IMO taste better with the meat toasted. i like to slice open a sub, put cheese on one side of the bread and the meats (pepperoni, salami, etc.) on the other and broil them like i said earlier

hot ham and swiss is also good

i like my roast beef a little rare (can ask for this in the deli). pairs well with spicier cheeses (pepper jack, etc.) and more aggressive condiments. (horseradish, spicy mustard, etc)

tuna salad is easy to make and will keep for a few days
chicken salad is a bit of a pain in the ass but worth it if you like it

wraps are also super easy to do if you watch some videos on how to roll them. take a damp paper towel and set it over top of the tortilla, toss it in the microwave for about 15 seconds to soften it

I ask my wife to do it.

Seriously, I don't know how she does it, but any sandwich she makes just tastes amazing. I think there is something to that whole "It was made with love" saying.

If you're a good with a knife yeah it's always preferred but it helps casual cutters and people who aren't as good with a knife.

I'm pretty stuck up about cooking. Any sort of heating of bread gives it a taste of just coming out of the oven .

Also there's a science behind toasting:
Due to the heat, sugars in the bread are caramelizing. This adds both sweetness and more complexity to the flavor.

tuna salad tastes like shit on toasted bread imo and is one of the few sandwiches where i think texture depth is a negative

Most casual people here aren't buying fresh bakery bread. Your average bread that you can buy off a shelf, at room temperature, tastes like butt and tastes way better if you give it heat to reactivate some of that moisture and awaken the bread.

To each his own, I like some nice wet tuna salad and I usually eat it straight out of the fridge. Some nice warm sourdough brings down the chill of the tuna mixture and I feel like they kind of equalize each other. Worst thing to me is eating soggy bread. Also I ate mine open face for less carbs, with a nice heaping scoop on top.

Yeah, if you buy bad bread, its not going to be great and toasting it may make it less noticeable how bad it is. I wouldnt argue against that.

I simply object to your previous claim that all bread is bad if its not toasted. Its simply not true.

I was over exaggerating. Yeah obviously that's not true but you wouldn't catch me not heating up even the good stuff.
