They were, Daedalus father of Icarus made them. They just didnt hold up well to heat.

You can fly with regular glide suits. But you gotta dip down and then swing back up with the proper timing to gain altitude.

Look at how a bird flies, if people were to fly like that, we would need massive pectoral muscles and a sternum that juts about 3 feet out of our chest.

A "wingsuit" can't do that. As others have stated, a human body does not have enough musculature for its weight to achieve meaningful lift without powered equipment. At best you have things like hang gliders that can use thermal updrafts to increase altitude, but that's reliant on the environment.

You would need some sort of secondary power source to achieve lift, which then makes it more like a jetpack or a full fledged aircraft. Such as in #15.

Because that's not how physics works.
