Never knew this was a thing, played the game super heavily back in the day.

Sucks cause I was only 216hrs in. Didn't even complete the Thieves, Mages, or Fighter's Guild, just Dark Brotherhood lol. I was also waiting to get to the higher levels before closing oblivion gates, so I didn't even get to relive closing gates like a boss as I did back in the day :/

I'm saddest because I still have the bug to play it and no desire to start from scratch, which research has told me once it comes an earlier save might help for a bit, however it's still gonna hit shortly after. Character is doomed.

I'll cite one of our fellow board members.

The A-Bomb Glitch causes all secondary animations to run at such a low framerate that they are effectively frozen - flames stand still, spell effects take days to dissolve, doorways take days to open, traps take hours to trigger, and the animation triggered by taking a sigil stone from an Oblivion gate will literally take an in-game month to run its course. The glitch takes affect after a certain play-hour has been reached - the general consensus puts the number at 500 play-hours on a single character, but some have reported it hitting as early as 200 hours. My personal track-record goes like this: I've been hit with it on three separate characters (out of nine total), the first hitting at hour 500 and the latter two both getting hit at hour 400. Once you get it, there is no way to get rid of it - if you load an earlier save, the glitch will still hit at roughly the same play-hour when you reach that point. I've tried playing on after getting the glitch, but it is mind-numbingly tedious to even attempt and eventually the glitch will get so bad that your save files simply won't load.

*googles*

Oh.

I was expecting stupidly overtuned custom magic or something.

No, its just some animation bug thing that could mess up the game.

Not could, does.

The file won't even load eventually. It gets to like 40% loaded and then stops.

The extent of Bethesda's bugs amaze me. How is that even possible for time played to have such a significant effect like that.

I dunno, back on the 360 I easily put in multiple characters with 300hr+ and never had this misfortune. Unlucky draw

Wow, typical Bethesda.

I still remember even heavily modded skyrim from over 10 years ago (with multiple supposedly incompatible graphics and plant life and such mods) running smoothly, until I look a very specific waterfall near the start of the game when it just becomes 1 or lower FPS. It was near one of those bonus-ability/passive stones you can get one of active at a time (aside from missing there is a way to have two).

I had what amounted to a fairly high end gaming PC at the time. But yeah, a random waterfall against a cliff, did it in. But look anywhere else and it was smooth as butter. It wasn't even mod-related either. With or without the community made extra patch that fixed bugs the devs didn't want to.

Is that fan patch still a thing btw? I haven't played Skyrim in a little over 10 years. I've only kept up on it since then since then via watching Spiffing Brit milk the Fortify Restoration Loop and/or other bugs for all they are worth since then.

Why yes, a fork CAN do over a million fire damage.
