Recently I've moved from part time to full time employment. When I interviewed for the position my direct manager said there was a bit of a raise for going full time, .54 cents, which isn't much but does add up to 20 bucks a week. It's been a few weeks since the change and the pay increase is still not reflected in my check. Today I went and talked to HR about it, and was told that there is no longer a pay increase when moving to full time. I feel like I'm getting the run around from HR and they're hoping I just say oh OK, no raise then...but I really need this bump, as tiny as it is.

If it's not in company documentation or a contract you signed as part of your employment I don't think there's much you can do.

HR is of course going to cut every cent they can, so they won't help.

Just steal from them.

that sucks. ive had similar stuff happen to me...

i had to basically tell them to gf themselves and not take the job. really sucks.

your gonna have to talk to the person who told you that you would get the raise.

at the end of the day: shitty people are shitty.

I (also) had a job and was told i would get a bump after training...they didnt bump me I had to "complain." they'd promise me raises if i took on responsibilities, and then the manager would talk to the boss and they would get walked back. i quit that shitty job but i needed it at the time.

edit: the other time was GameStop. They promised me like 12 bucks an hour and said i was interviewing for "3rd key" to move up to manager quickly. I had a college degree, freshly earned, and it was 2007. After all the paperwork they told me "well, actually it's just a reg position and it's 7.25 an hour."

so i didnt take that job; i was so pissed.

If they're willing to screw you over so small an amount, its not a good look for the company imo. I'd start looking for another job.

I'm gonna go in early tomorrow to talk to my manager about it. I'm not very hopeful, which sucks because I'd been feeling really great about the place recently.

Keep fighting for it. If you feel like you can find an equal job elsewhere, do it. Bet on yourself.

The position is closing service leader. They're kind of screwed if I were to suddenly leave. They'd need to find a closer for 5 nights a week. They'd find one sure..but not right off.

Depending on where you live, the verbal agreement might be enforceable, but you're going to need proof of it somehow.

I'm guessing you signed a contract or similar paperwork when taking the promotion and if it wasn't mentioned on there you probably don't have any chance at all.

You got baited

on the flip side, my current job started me at .50 over what they thought I was at, I ended up making $2.50/hr more than what the paperwork said when my probation was over LOL

Well, I talked to my manager and even with her "fighting for me" it's a no go. She's gonna "fight for me" to get the highest percentage raise when reviews come up, but I am disheartened

when is your review? What was the reason given for no raise when she specifically said there would be one?

Reviews are in May. Apparently this used to be the case where full timers get more, but it changed this year. My manager was wrong, and that was basically all that was said on the matter

Sorry to hear that, and luckily May is not far away. So maybe youll get a good raise

Ill be honest with you, though, Ive had managers who have said they will fight for me. Ive see what that looked like, and would not recommend.

Hope for the best, but plan for the worst is the motto. When you have free time, I would begin looking for other work. Its not easy to find so its not like youll find some thing in a week or something. And if you do, better for you.

But yeah, I would not hold onto hope too much for the future if this is what they do to you now.

i got screwed out of like 6 grand worth of education reimbursement back in 2014 because i didn't have it in writing. Or actually, i did, but it was in an e-mail. when the downturn hit and everyone got laid off, they were immediately locked out of their e-mails.

i could have gone to court over it but i didn't know i could. was young and stupid.

Man fuck that. Start looking elsewhere, and email that to HR and your direct manager/the one that told you there would be a raise.

If they cut your hours, it'd be directly due to retaliation.
