Wow, this show is great. The next part comes out next month, too, so this was pretty good timing.

How does the quality of the show compare to The Boys, if youve seen that? Invincible and The Boys were two Prime shows Ive been putting off for a while and I finally got around to watching all of The Boys, and I loved it.

Ill probably get to Invincible next after finishing Gen V (not the biggest fan of this one unfortunately).

You watched Gen v before or after the boys?

The boys and invincible are the only Amazon shows worth watching. Besides maybe the tick

Personally I like Invincible a lot more than The Boys, if only because I feel like it has something more interesting to say.

Like, the thesis statement for The Boys seems to be "hey, wouldn't it suck if superman and other heroes were dicks?" And the answer is... yeah, that would suck.

Invincible, at least, has a lot more to say, about a lot more topics. Especially when you realize that Mark is the Superman stand in, and not Omni Man.

Try to read the comics if you can. The whole series is done, and it's quite good

Im watching Gen V after The Boys, recently finished all 3 available seasons a couple days ago. Got two episodes left of Gen V.

I feel like the characters in Gen V are massively worse in quality than The Boys, and the plot isnt doing it for me as well as the really bad awkward forced romances.

Interesting, Ill definitely give it a shot then.

I had the same experience when it first came out. It got a lot of buzz so I was willing to check it out. I was honestly a little bored in the pilot because it just seemed like a bog standard superhero story, until of course that happened. It's super fun and the animation can be amazing. S2 being broken up considering it's been such a long wait for it is a bit of a kick in the pants though.

Pretty whelmed by it, probably won't bother finishing S2.

Invincible is very good, but it suffers from some dumb forced romance drama. Thankfully it doesnt dwell on it.

The Boys is good, sometimes gets a little TOO edgy, but is good.

My buddy didn't see what was so special about it after episode one

Turns out he stopped watching it at the first credits roll

haven't seen either, but from what I hear, Invincible seems to be made out of love of superheroes, while The Boys seems to be made out of hatred of them

I wouldn't necessarily say that The Boys is made out of a hatred of super heroes.

The problem is that The Boys isn't really saying anything. It's not doing anything with it's premise. "Wouldn't it suck if superheroes were assholes, and capitalism got its claws in them?" Yeah, it would... and...?

It's not that they hate caped heroes; I don't think you can really deconstruct anything you actually hate. Not very successfully, anyway. It's just that they basically came up with a premise and... just stopped. The character writing is great, but the central themes never go further than "wow, this sucks." Because things in that world have to suck. If things stop sucking, the series has nowhere else to go. It's why it feels overly edgy, in so many places.

I think it says a lot about blind worship of hero figures, whether they are evil superman, or literally girl hitler

I lost my motivation to watch The Boys after the first season. I keep meaning to take it up again, but somehow I never do.

I've enjoyed Invincible a lot, and I'm not usually into comics/superhero stuff.

I have to strongly disagree with this. The Boys says a lot about celebrity worship and just celebrity culture in general, and how it not only brings out the worst in people, but also makes society worse by having a group of powerful people who have the ability to manipulate public opinion and avoid accountability for their actions. The topic of toxic masculinity and the amoral nature of capitalism are also big topics in The Boys, as well as other issues like racism, emotional trauma, political radicalization, and the privitization of things like the military.

I'm not quite sure what more you would want it to say.
