I'm a Millennial and outside of a short window of time where the Lonely Island digital shorts were popular the show's never been relevant. I've also never known anyone that consistently watches it.

I'll watch the occasional sketch or Weekend Update bit if it pops up on YouTube and it's always just egregiously unfunny. Sketches are basically people in Party City costumes awkwardly staring into the camera and half-assing their lines, and Weekend Update is just two cast members recycling Tweets the writers read earlier in the week.

I don't watch the actual episodes and haven't in a long, long time...but I do enjoy some skits when they're posted to their YouTube channel.

I'll watch skits on Youtube every once in awhile. It has its ups and downs like it always has.

The joke swap from last month had me rolling.

I'm in my 40s and have honestly never sat down and watched it. I was more of a MadTV guy back in the day. But that said, even if you didn't watch it I feel like you still were aware of a lot of the cultural references like Wayne's World and Mr. Bill and all that. It doesn't seem like there's been anything popular like that in recent years.

Every shows that's had that long of a run has seen their viewership drop as the decades pass.

Four I can think of are SNL, The Simpsons, Monday Night Raw, and Survivor.

Shows that have 20-30+ seasons that have seen viewership sink year after year.

People just find different methods of watching.

People always say "their" era of SNL was the best era, but it really hasn't changed. Weekend Update is usually great, 2-3 OK skits, one really good one, and the rest of the show falls flat.

Been like that since the 70's

1999-2003 was a 10/10 time for snl,
Late 2003- 2006 was 8 or 9 out of 10
06-08 was hit and miss 6 or 7
09-13 back up 9 or 10 out of 10
14-20 was a range of 7 to 10 out of 10
21- current really hit or miss from 3 - 8 out of 10 based on what skit it is

I think that's a case of many things not having the staying power that they had in the past. Everything is watched in 2 minute YouTube, or even worse, 30 second TikTok videos, and then it's on to the next thing.

There's literally be 2 SNL Movies since 2000. Ladies Man in 2000 and MacGruber in 2010.

Yeah like abc and nbc viewership must be the lowest it's ever been. Any of you think that's a good thing?

With so much going to streaming, viewership gets measured much differently that it was 10-20 years ago, and I honestly haven't really looked much into it to know if it is a good or bad thing for the actual broadcast companies.
