Like let's get started. Let me just start looking through all generations and picking them out.
Bad takes that are well established, popular opinions:

Charizard being the coolest Kanto starter
Pidgey being cooler than Spearow
Hitmonlee being cooler than Hitmonchan
Flareon hatred / it being the most hated Eeveelution
Kabuto > Omanyte
Chikorita hatred, even from an aesthetic standpoint
Lugia > Ho-oh
Gen 3 starters being the coolest trio
Blaziken being a cool, or even acceptable, Pokemon design
Liking Manectric more than Luxray
Metagross being the most popular pseudo-legendary
Gen 3 box legendaries being better than other generations
Turtwig and Chimchar being more popular than Piplup
Rampardos never being talked about as one of the coolest fossils
Rhyperior being an ugly design

Flareon isn't an aesthetic thing though people hate it because it sucked in battle for the longest time. Don't know if they fixed it eventually.

Are the Violet paradox Pokemon actually more popular than the Scarlet ones though? I don't really have a preference, they both have some cool ones.

Gen 5 selling poorly is evidence enough for the community lacking in taste.

People say they hate certain Pokemon only because they're not competitively viable. They never go out of their way to say anything about liking the designs for Flareon or Chikorita, though, which leads me to believe there's at least a small aesthetic factor.

Another big one: the popularity of Megas.
Most of them look stupid, only make good Pokemon even better, and it's just kind of a dumb concept.

It sounds like that - but I mean I can have opinions on other franchises and not literally disagree with 95% of popular opinions. It's really amazing how often I disagree with peoples' opinions on Pokemon. It's much more often than with anything else.

I mean I'm sure Greninja is much better from a gameplay standpoint - just kind of an ugly design. It suffers from the same thing as Sobble's final form - where it's weirdly skinny and goofy.
On that same note - I think Fennekin is super underrated design-wise. It's a cool concept and I like witches. It also kind of reminds me of the Flamies from the Labyrinth.

Glad you agree on the others, though. Chikorita is cool in literally all three forms. So many people talk about "fixing" the second or third form - but I think they're all perfectly fine, and it's one of the only starters that I honestly like in all three stages. I don't care about its gameplay viability. I just play it like a much worse Venusaur.

Half of those opinions sound like you just made them up.

If it's not #1 in most polls it's at least 2 or 3. The only one that feels arguably as popular online is Garchomp. Gen oners love Dragonite, Tyranitar and Salamence have their dedicated followings, Dragapult is pretty popular -- but Hydreigon is kind of underrated popularity-wise, Goodra is middle of the road, most people hate Kommo-o, and only competitive players like Baxcalibur.

Not fond of Magcargo, but I've always liked Slugma.

And TC, I have to admit I really agree regarding Pumpkaboo. That thing is adorable, and you'd think it'd be more popular because of it. I think it being a Grass/Ghost in a generation with another Grass/Ghost line might be part of the reason.

I agree on some, (Piplup, for example) but many others, I'm more neutral, or have no opinion on, than actively believeing the opposite. Like Flareon is not a favorite eevee by any means, but I do not hate it either. Vaporeon is the one that's offensive to look at and Flesh Ribbons Slyveon is just wrong.

I think overall the past are a lot cooler than the future but Valiant is so sick, and Bundle is funny. The rest range from neat to mediocre.

Meanwhile Tusk, Slither Wing, Mane, and Tail all look way crazier than Hydreigon with more polygons and Treads.

While Pumpkaboo is adorable, it not only shares the gen with another Grass/Ghost, that Grass/Ghost is also significantly cooler.

Trevenant's shiny is also way better but that's probably not that much of a factor.

The Flareon hatred though -- I get it's not good competitively, but it's perfectly serviceable in a regular playthrough. Its attack is so high, and Bite / Fire Fang / Dig is perfectly fine -- Flare Blitz and Trailblaze are even better.
I use it on every play through of every Pokemon game it's in - same with Machop - and it never disappoints me.

I already mentioned earlier that it's not that I'm mad that people don't share the same opinions - it's moreso I'm totally dumbfounded how I can literally not share like ANY opinions with the community. Like it's almost too weird to be a coincidence that every single popular opinion I hate.

Also there should be a distinct line between "this is my favorite Pokemon" and "this is my favorite Pokemon to use just because it's competitively viable or makes the game easier." Like you're allowed to like Pokemon that are bad.
I get there are some Pokemon I wasn't crazy about until I used them, like Ferrothorn and Shiftry (he ALWAYS seems to come up in Nuzlocke randomizers I try, which is funny cause Nuzleaf). But I wasn't particularly repelled by either of their designs before liking them gameplay-wise -- gameplay just made me like them more.

And as far as this one goes -- Bulbasaur is a much cooler, more unique design. Bulbasaur is also fun to use gameplay-wise -- way more fun than Charizard or Blastoise. I love setting up with Leech Seed.
