He said he almost sweat, and only on the last attack. Like he almost accidentally put in more effort that he didn't intend to, not like the military forced him to try hard.

Reminder that Goku solo'd an entire army with guns, planes, and advanced mech suits by himself when he was like 12.

I feel like the right way to handle this would be to say yes, then immediately poison him or otherwise chemical/biological weapons in some form or shape.

That army was 99% composed of regular men with guns or their fists. Not saying he couldnt take out a conventional modern military, but the RRA was not the same as taking on most first world militaries.

Basically, if he stays in one place for too long, a nuke would decimate 12 year old Goku.

Nukes aren't fast enough for Raditz, I don't think. And even at much lower power levels than Raditz, Dragon Ball ki blasts could destroy the moon. There's no reason to believe a nuke would kill Raditz.

I feel like it says a lot that the best scenario anyone can come up with for defeating Raditz involves him just standing still and being attacked - by a military considered so weak that the dude's infant little brother was perfectly capable of destroying if only he didn't experience cranial trauma first.

This Raditz character seems pretty stong.

I was talking about Kid Goku, since that is who you were referencing.

But regarding Raditz, do you think Nappas lift two fingers, make-city-go-bye-bye attack could damage Raditz? Because it appears to be on par with a nuke. Personally, I think that it is royally fucking Raditz up, if Nappa targets Raditz with it.

Planets are just really easy to destroy in DB/DBZ. Moves dont need to target a planets core to pack a wallop. Piccolos move that destroyed the 23rd Budokai arena was certainly a lot stronger than Roshis Kamehameha at the 21st Budokai, and unless you were in the immediate vicinity, it left zero damage to the earth.

Something you might be neglecting when it comes to DBZ ki attacks: The user controls how destructive it is. Ki control is a huge part of why the planet doesn't just blast to bits every time someone throws an incidental ki blast later in the series.

Piccolo blew up the moon one-handed when he wasn't half as strong as Raditz. Nappa's attack on the city was controlled and pointed upward, so of course it didn't blow up the Earth. It was much, much more powerful than a nuke. Nukes leave some buildings and structural things behind. The aftermath of Nappa's attack had none of that.

Yet Nappa, Vegeta, and their ships were both completely intact. He controlled the blast, but literally everything around them was flattened. Their ships were in craters when they landed, but after Nappa's attacks, the ground around their ships was flattened:

Thats actually exactly what I was pointing out. That 1) the moon is made of paper mache in Dragon Ball, and 2) an attack needs to be aimed at a planets core to destroy a planet.

Nukes from 80 years ago left buildings behind. The Tsar Bomba was 60+ years ago and was over 3,000 times as powerful as the bombs dropped on Japan. Im very much assuming it could decimate a city in the area of impact.

Plus, never forget that Raditz has access to his Great Ape form when the moon is full. We never saw it in the manga, but we saw what Gohan's uncontrolled blasts could do (keep in mind, Gohan was 5 years old at the time):

Also...not to rain on your parade, but nukes from today aren't generally those ultra-massive nukes that we were testing at the apex of weapons development. We've scaled down the size of them since then, and now they're only ~5x as strong as Fat Man, according to this article:

Super-powerful nukes like the Castle Bravo and the B53 bunker-buster are no longer in the US arsenal the last of the B53 bombs were dismantled in 2011, Wired reported.

The nuclear weapons in the US stockpile these days which still number around 7,200 are generally smaller, typically in the 100,000-ton range.

Modern nuclear weapons are smaller and more easily aimed at strategic targets, creating less collateral damage than the mega bombs could have had.

So even if the heat and power of one of those turbo-nukes might actually be enough to hurt Raditz, we're not likely to have any way of using something like that against him. There's also the fact that he can just shoot them out of the sky, or catch and divert them as they come after him.

Dragon Ball Goku was more than capable of dodging and deflecting bullets. Raditz caught a bullet with literally zero effort. His speed is quite a bit higher than Goku's at the time, and Goku at the time was much stronger than he was while soloing the entire Red Ribbon Army.

Raditz solos Earth without much issue.

I dont see why chemical warfare wont beat him.

Characters were dodging tear gas in the Black arc for Super. Raditz can still be affected by chemicals. Given hed scouter check everyone and get cocky, hes a cooked turkey.

He'd be able to put out fire / gas weapons and such just by powering up.

But I don't think there's anything that suggests he'd survive after drinking 200ml of cyanide.

No one is going to be dropping a Tsar Bomba on anyone, because every nuclear power has long since realized a lot of small nukes are far more effective than one really big one. Even at the time, the Soviets knew Tsar Bomba was less a practical weapon and more a really large firework to show off.

If someone wanted to wipe out a large area, they'd likely use a dozen or so nukes about 10-20 times the power of WW2 ones, not a single Tsar Bomba.
