Surely assuming we're getting one to determine Rhea's opponent (with Nia or Becky winning it), but anything else? Highly doubt we see Gunther or Logan put their belts on the line in a chamber.

i'm so glad I am basically a part time fan. I can't imagine the agony of following this product week after week and then being shown they don't give a fuck what I want, they want to make casuals happy with a 51 year old part timer

cody's was top 3 in merch in 2022 and last year was #1, it's not like he's something casual fans don't want. dude consistently gets some of the best pops, has some of the best sales, and hits well across every demographic. it ain't a casual issue as much as it's the guy who took cody's place is literally is a board member of TKO. could they fix this, sure. hell they could easily say Cody vs Roman is set for elimination chamber (they really have nothing going for this show right now), get the belt into a different match at WM. will they, no.

Last report I heard was that Roman wasn't coming to Elimination Chamber, but dirt sheets are a dime a dozen these days.

I think more than anything this (re)confirms how bad a decision it was to have Cody lose last year.

With Reigns free of the title, Rock/Reigns is an uncomplicated and good story, with Rock basically coming to end the whole head of the table gimmick and put Reigns in his place, etc.

But with the title the outcome is a foregone conclusion. All because they chickened out last year.

Here's the thing - the world at large has to be converted into fandom at some point or else WWE will bleed itself dry very slowly of fans who see their bad booking decisions and lose interest. There's no RoI for them. It's the same general rule as the MCU.

It would mean all the belts are on "heels", except for the fact that Bayley is winning her match at Wrestlemania: Roman, Gunther, Paul, Judgement Day (Tag), Rhea, Kabuki Warriors.

Gunther could lose at Wrestlemania, probably should if they want him to move on to bigger things, especially since he's already got the record longest run with the IC title.

Paul should lose, since he's a part timer and the US belt should change hands more often.

Tag titles, both men and women, who gives a shit. Probably the women's changes hands as they likely want Judgement Day to hold multiple belts and remain a focus.

It sucks that they had to call this as an audible, because if they'd known this was the plan before the Rumble, they could've gone with someone like Gunther winning the Rumble and challenging Seth at Mania, that way you don't ostensibly waste Cody's Rumble victory.

I think Gunther, Paul, Iyo, and Kabuki Warriors lose their belts at Wrestlemania. MAYBE Finn/Priest lose the tag belts to Awesome Truth, which would add further the element of surprise when Priest cashes in on Seth later. That would ensure that Judgment Day has the top tier men's and women's titles on Raw and maintain their sense of credibility.

On the subject of Roman's run as champion, I think Wrestlecrap said it best in one of their recent inductions:

"Roman can't lose to Drew in the UK, he has to finish the Bloodline story!"

"Roman can't lose to Sami in Montreal, he has to be champion at Wrestlemania!"

"Roman can't lose to Cody at Wrestlemania, he has to make it to 1000 days as champion!"

"Roman can't lose to Jey, he has to make it to 3 years as champion!"

Now we're in phase five: Roman can't lose to The Rock, he has to pass Hulk Hogan.

In his 3+ year stretch as champion, there was only one true match where I genuinely thought Roman would lose the belt, which was Cody at Mania last year, mainly because a good chunk of his run was title defenses against part timers and midcarders. If Roman is still champ on September 3rd, he passes Hogan and would only have Backlund and Bruno in his sights.

Ideally, my prediction between now and 9/3...
- Roman retains against Rock at Wrestlemania
- Roman retains against Orton at Money in the Bank
- Roman retains against Cody at SummerSlam

You could probably add in a match at Night of Champions (assuming it's still in Saudi Arabia like last year) and have Knight or Styles eat a pinfall there. I legit don't see Roman losing the belt until WM41 at the earliest, to be honest.

Actually, everyone will smell a cash-in after a loss early in the evening (see WM31 where Orton beat Seth who used his golden ticket to stick his nose in the main event for the Heist of the century)

Can't wait for Cody to win the Rumble for a 3rd straight time next year and finally beat Roman at Wrestlemania.

The point is that everyone assumed the Vince stuff wasn't going to be as bad as it was and now that it is, they're gonna give Rock free reign over the company because they need him to be the PR dude to help them navigate this and this was probably one of his biggest demands.

Bitter irony: Neither match main-evented Wrestlemania that year

However, it's always been more about money and the bigger draw in the business. Hogan main evented 8 of the first 9 Wrestlemanias, despite being one of the least technically talented in the business.

for something that "died" it sure is doing well getting 500 million a year from Netflix for up to 10 years. it was putting up some of the best numbers since the attitude era, consistently topping charts on viewership, and financially the company has never been better. money talks yeah, and it already did. when they announced WM40 they sold 90k tickets - more tickets than they ever have in a single day. people are into the product and the would-be main event of Roman/Cody ends up combining two of their top 5 sellers and draws. the financial argument just doesn't make sense here, either for the people, the company as a whole, or the event.

As a casual fan, you can tell me KO is a better technical wrestler but I want to watch Lesnar every time. He's the modern guy that got me to pay attention again at different points over the last 8-9 years.

I also love Lesnar but not being as good as Kevin Owens isn't an indictment.

Bill Goldberg doesn't belong in the conversation with either of them is kind of my point there.
