'Pure democracy' is a misnomer intended to be a linchpin point when his comment inevitably draws criticism.

He can deflect and say "Well I'm talking about pure democracy, not our democratic/republic institution"

He's essentially laundering his intent behind a phrase that he can deflect with. His intent is pretty on point with modern MAGA/far right opinions. That democracy is untrustworthy (hence stolen/rigged elections) and that we should listen to our leaders.

K. That's not the case here and not what Santorum was talking about. 2 election referendum questions on abortion and marijuana legalization on the annual election day were not frivolous, not often, and did not tire anyone out.

Remember when GWB said there ought to be limits to freedom? He wasnt talking about yelling fire in a crowded theatre.
