The House of Representatives voted Tuesday night to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) for defending Hamas Oct. 7 terror attack against Israel as resistance and calling for the destruction of the Jewish state. Tlaib is the 26th member of Congress to be censured by the House in the legislative bodys history. The censure vote, initially scheduled for Wednesday, was apparently moved up after Rep. Rich McCormicks (R-Ga.) office the congressman who introduced the resolution received death threats. I take the safety of my team seriously. I am temporarily closing my physical district office location in Cumming, GA due to serious threats of violence against my staff. These threats have been reported to Capitol Police and will be investigated fully, McCormick said in an X post. McCormicks resolution passed in a 234-188 vote, with four members voting present. Twenty-two Democrats voted with 212 Republicans to censure Tlaib, and four Republicans voted with 184 Democrats against the resolution.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) withdrew a separate bill aimed at censuring Tlaib, telling reporters Tuesday that shes not going to be part of a competing censure resolution because leadership failed to organize it. So, for me, I decided to pull it. Shes getting censured, thats what I set out to do, the Georgia Republican added. Most recently, the resolution mentions Tlaibs Nov. 3 video post on X, which included the first portion of the phrase from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free, a call for the eradication of Israel that she later doubled down on. Tlaib responded by saying the phrase is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. Seventy House Democrats signed onto a statement led by Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.) following the floor deliberations on Tuesday that rejected the use of the phrase, declaring it a rallying cry for the destruction of the State of Israel and genocide of the Jewish people. We support Israels right and obligation to defend itself to protect its citizens, secure its borders, and rescue its people held hostage in Gaza, the statement reads. Israel also has the obligation to, as best as possible, protect civilians, and in all its actions adhere to international humanitarian law (notwithstanding Hamas complete disregard for the same). The resolution also states the Michigan Democrat defended the brutal rapes, murders, beheadings and kidnapping including of Americans by Hamas as justified resistance within 24 hours of the attack. The censure further cites lies Tlaib spread about the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital bombing on Oct. 17, which she claimed had been perpetrated by the Israeli military despite President Biden and the US intelligence community assessing with high confidence that it was caused by the Hamas-linked Palestine Islamic Jihad.

Plenty of Americans know the truth. Just not the politicians in charge

There are so many representatives taking so much money from AIPAC that their ability to make foreign policy decisions in the interest of their own constituents is compromised; someone was even wearing an Israeli fucking uniform in congress. People replacing their US flags and pins with that of Israel! People whose primary allegiance is not to the United States but to a foreign entity, who were allowed to vote for this censure.

I really thank Rashida Tlaib for bravely doing the right thing likely knowing that even her own fellow congressmen would go after her for it. It's not her this censure will be an indictment of, but the US House, and the festering lobbying situation in DC that the government has allowed and encouraged.

Never. She spoke up against what Israel is doing to Palestinians. Which to republicans and some democrats is the same thing.

I hope that My Fair Lady ignores the censure and says and does whatever she wants. The United States is no longer a legitimate nation. It has cast off the veneer of legitimacy. Democracy is truly well and dead in this rogue nation.

I saw a clip just last week that was almost 10 minutes long, catalogueing her offenses.

If anyone actually need a censure, it's her.
