for criticizing the Israeli Government. She's being accused of being anti-semitic and "Pro Hamas" and "calling for the destruction of Israel." So ridiculous. What's interesting to note is that Tlaib is Palestinian American. God the country of Israel has so much influence in American politics and corporations. It's disgusting.

The House late Tuesday passed a GOP measure to formally reprimand Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) over her outspoken criticism of Israel, with some Democrats joining all Republicans to support the censure. Rep. Rich McCormick (R-Ga.) had moved to censure Tlaib for what he called promoting false narratives about the Palestinian militant group Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel. Its a more targeted measure after a similar attempt to censure Tlaib failed last week.

Tlaib will have the formal reprimand read aloud to her on the House floor. Four Republicans voted against the measure and 22 Democrats for it, with the final tally coming to 234-188, as four lawmakers voted present. The Michigan progressive had angered not only Republicans but also some members of her own party with her comments criticizing the Israeli government, including her posting a video on social media with a chant that is a rallying cry for Hamas: From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. The phrase refers to a desired Palestinian state that would stretch from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. It is viewed as a call for violence against Israel and a rejection of Israels right to exist.
Its the latest development in what has become an ongoing House censure war. Democrats defeated a similar motion to reprimand Tlaib last week, when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) started the push.

Nearly two dozen Republicans joined all Democrats in sinking that measure, which compared a pro-Palestinian protest at the Capitol to an insurrection. In response, Democrats introduced a motion to censure Greene, though they withdrew it before a vote. Greene reintroduced her measure to censure Tlaib after stripping the language about insurrection, though she pulled back when the House acted on the McCormick-led resolution.

Then, on Monday night, Democrats also introduced a censure of Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) after he compared innocent Palestinian civilians to innocent Nazi civilians.

Tlaib, whose Detroit-area district includes a large Arab American population, is the first Palestinian American woman in Congress and is currently the only Palestinian American. Shes been an outspoken critic of the Israeli government during her tenure in Congress and has also vocally called for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.

Speaking on the House floor earlier Tuesday, Tlaib said her colleagues had distorted her positions, and she reiterated that her criticism was solely of the Israeli government: The idea that criticizing the government of Israel is antisemitic sets a very dangerous precedent.But that explanation wasnt good enough for some House Democrats. That's not acceptable rhetoric, said Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.), who on Tuesday released a statement, along with 70 other Democrats condemning the language used by Tlaib.

I highlighted the part in black because some Republican got censured for comparing Palestinian civilians to nazi civilians, which is way worse than what Tlalib is being accused of.

Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-Calif.) filed the resolution to censure Mast, writing that his refusal to distinguish innocent Palestinians for Hamas terrorists is false, misleading, dehumanizing, dangerous, and unbecoming of a Member of Congress.
Mast made the comparison last Wednesday on the House floor, saying he would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of 'innocent Palestinian civilians,' as is frequently said. I dont think we would so lightly throw around the term 'innocent Nazi civilians' during World War II.

Israel might as well be the 51st state at this point. The US government certainly seems to see it as such.

This is dumber than when people attacked Omar for saying "it's all about the Benjamins" in relation to Netanyahu's bribery and fraud charges.

That really demonstrates the black and white thinking they use. To him there were no German civilians, even babies were just Nazi babies and therefore any deaths were warranted. He assumes others think this way and so then assumed they will feel the same about Palestinians. In his view all Palestinians, even babies, must be Hamas terrorists, so they cannot be innocent.

There are better ways to criticize and sympathize than using an old catch phrase widely used to describe destroying Israel and all of the jews that live there.

Eh, this might be the one time I think she's been saying stuff out of line. She still has up that tweet about the Israel hospital bombing that was debunked.

Not saying Israel DOESN'T bomb hospitals, but that particular one was false and she refuses to take it down or acknowledge it.

Great to see the House is wasting everyone's time. Surely there are more important things to worry about than censuring someone calling out Israel for once.
