Were people pissed at the manga version of the credits sequence which shows more war and another titan tree? Or the fact that Eren knew everything since he touched Historia and did the memory wipe? Only thing I thought was kinda dumb was the bird thing at the end.

Yeah, I was also a little confused. It's not the peak of the show but it was solid enough. Looking at the comments on the subreddit, it seems like they changed two things in subtle ways that make a lot of difference.

First they tightened up Armin and Eren's conversation. In the manga, he apparently says, "Eren, thank you. You became a mass murderer for our sake. I promise I won't let this massive mistake you're making go to waste."

Turns out thanking someone for killing 80% of all life on earth isn't the best way to go. Apparently Armin's reactions and things also didn't really fit as well as it should have and/or the fact that it's a few seconds in an anime rather than one panel in a manga just works better.

The other difference was indeed the credits scene. In the manga, it seems there was no big time skip. When Paradis is destroyed, it just looks like it's not very far off in the future which makes it seem like the world is retaliating against them for the Rumbling. That would massively undercut the entire ending. Having it be in a more futuristic city does make that work a lot better if that's the case.

If I remember right, the manga showed the passage of time and paradis building up over time THEN the world retaliated.

Yeah, the ending was way better than I thought it would be based on how bad everyone made it out to be. Thought it was a perfect end to the series, even if some things here and there could've been made clearer.

One thing I see from people who disliked the ending is that it "ruined Eren's character" by having him simping for Mikasa in that one scene, and/or that they wanted him to actually wipe out the entire world. They built up this gigachad Eren in their mind and when he was revealed to actually just be a messed up teenager who got too much power for his own good they got blindsided by it, I guess.

The anime made the ending more bearable. I ended up watching the anime and thinking that wasn't as bad as I thought. The ending in the manga was just straight up garbage. Ending is still bad tho tbf I haven't seen an ending that was actually good.

Watch The Good Place. Possibly the best finale I've ever seen.

Manga reader here, for me necrophilia with a little girl voyeur ginning and trying to redeem a genocide was just too much.
I was actually ok with the power of friendship bs near the end.

I'm actually unsure if I'll watch the ending of the anime.

The manga initially didn't have that, it ends with Mikasa at the tree with a bird wrapping the scarf around her. The credits sequence is the 8 additional pages added to the final volume. Depending on who you ask, this actually made people more pissed lol. Especially because it confirmed that Mikasa ends up with Jean.

Wait, is it over over? The dub as well?

Or at least if I haven't watched since the first "Final Season Part 2" can I restart there and the dub be caught up when I catch up?

Only the sub right now. Everything up to this last episode is dubbed, though.

It took them like 6 months or something to finally dub "Part 3 (Part 1)" so I don't expect this last episode to be dubbed until like the Spring at this point.

It's not shown. It's kiiiind of implied she had kids, but it's ambiguous.
