One of them already a lot of blood in it, should I go buy some more? Wait, is it safe to sleep with these in my mouth?

Don't sleep with them. Just use them up until you go to sleep, if it's actively bleeding.

If you went through all of the ones the dentist gave you and they all seeped with blood/the bleeding didn't really slow, then I'd potentially buy some more, yes. You'd be the best judge. If it feels like the bleeding has slowed, and it's more just... Oozing, then you probably don't need to buy any. Wounds like that will "ooze" for awhile, but it's not necessary to have gauze, at that point. Just rinse with salt water like, twice a day, to keep it clean.

EDIT: But don't rinse with salt water until after 24 hours, unless they told you otherwise.

No, they told me that too and please don't say "ooze" for some reason that word really makes me feel like throwing up

Also, toward the end of the healing process, don't be alarmed if the increasingly tiny blood spots on the used gauze is darker than usual or almost black. That's normal.

Sorry. That's just... The best way to describe "bleeding" that isn't like, active bleeding.

I won't type it anymore. You get what I meant, I believe.

What do I need to do to avoid dry socket? Also while I have some feeling back in my face it's not all the way back

Don't do anything that causes suction or a similar quality. Don't use straws, don't smoke, don't spit if you can help it, things like that. The whole point is that you want to keep the scab/clot in place. Dry socket can occur if the scab/clot dislodges. The first 24-48 hours are especially crucial, here.

Also, this. Don't like, freak out worrying about it. It's fairly difficult to actually get dry socket, atleast in my experience.

As others said, you don't have to worry much about it.

Just don't do anything that could scratch this open in your mouth at all.
Just don't do anything stupid because you think "it will be fine, what's the worst that could happen?"

That's all.

Full disclosure, I still smoked after some of my extractions back when I did that. It was stupid, but I didn't get any dry sockets from it. Used my tongue to block off the socket whenever I did, sort of giving it it's own little closed-off room in my mouth.

Dumb thing to do, obviously, but that's addiction for you.

Yes, absolutely. Just have them in, as needed, if you're not doing anything else.

As for what you can eat, anything that doesn't require intense chewing. Apple sauce, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, things like that. Certainly nothing crunchy, and nothing tough that you need to chew harder at.

Yeah you can take them out to eat and drink. Soft foods are best. Stuff like yogurt, pudding, ice cream, mashed potatoes (warm but not hot), jello etc. Nothing crunchy.

Wonderful it really does feel weird knowing those problem teeth are gone, my mouth doesn't feel as full as it used to and I have to constantly remind myself to not let my tongue wander and to not do that thing where you take a big breath and blow it out force ably I tend to do that when I'm bored and have nothing holding my attention.

Yeah, it definitely takes a little while to get used to, but you do.

Similarly, I have a crown on one of my back molars, and it felt like a foreign entity literally for days. I had to remind myself not to tongue at it. After a few days, though, it feels like any other tooth.

Man, if I had the money I would have immediately had them put in fillers in those sockets but I don't probably won't have it for about 4 months

I feel ya. I recently had a ton of work done. 8 fillings and 2 root canals and 3 crowns. I have to wait for janurary because i hit my max. Dental insurance is complete shit. I hope you feel better soon. You'll get used to the feeling pretty quick though.

My face didn't swell at all. I just had (mostly) dull pains, and... Well, that word you don't like.

If I have to have anything done that requires needle at all, I get gas. Hell, I got gas about a year ago for a deep cleaning, and, since then, they've weaned me off of it for normal cleanings (since I had a deep cleaning, my cleanings have gotten less intensive since). Now, I can easily get a regular cleaning with no gas, but if I need any needle and/or serious work done... Screw it, I pay the $50/hr for the gas.
