Seems like people immediately abandoned it after SF6 came out. I was always interested because it features the return of some of my favorite SF3 characters (Alex, Urien, Gill) and I've watched plenty of footage but I never got around to playing it.

I never cared for it. It just felt bland. Easily the worst main numbered game from SF2-SF6.

It was good, but good is not enough for a big series like street fighter.
So it was ok for SF standard.

Not very good, the 2nd critical arts never materialised despite Capcom's promise. V-triggers aren't very interesting imo. I did appreciate that they brought back Gill.

by the end I'd say it was fine. the roster ended up being pretty awesome, the newcomers and music were a huge upgrade over SF4's. the gameplay has its moments, etc.

the gameplay also has its bad moments, and although over the time the models generally got better, when they were bad. oh man. and it's really hard to get over just how bad that start was. there were probably fighting games on the SNES with more offline content. even today I still use SF5 as a reference point of "how not to launch a video game".

better than USF4 by the time it ended? probably not but I think you can at least make a case for it. better than ST, A2 or 3S? oh god no.
