Just weeks before the 2013 incident, he allegedly drew a swastika over a sketch of a shoe while the Adidas team pitched ideas. Other cases of antisemitism include advising a Jewish Adidas manager to kiss a picture of Hitler every day and telling an executive he paid a seven-figure settlement to senior employees who accused him of repeatedly praising the architect of the Holocaust, according to the Times. Despite employee complaints and a Yzy hotline group chat between executives to address issues, the company agreed to give him a $100 million annual expenditure in 2019 that on paper was for Yeezy marketing but was in practice, a fund that he could spend with little oversight.

Though Adidas terminated their partnership, the company restarted the sale of $1.3 billions worth of Yeezys previously stored in warehouses all over the world in May, taking in $437 million in sales through June and cutting the companys projected annual loss from $700 million to about $100 million, per the Times. The current CEO, Bjorn Gulden, lamented the end of the profitable era for the company in a podcast interview last month one of the most successful collabs in history and apologized to the Anti-Defamation League for his remarks days later, the Times reported. A small portion of the proceeds from the warehouse sale of Yeezys will be donated to causes battling racism and antisemitism. Ye will likely still get his cut.

Yeah, some of these people are too far gone. He's bipolar and probably bordering on some psychotic illness as well. He NEEDS meds.

I remember going to an interesting - but purely academic - discussion in college about whether racism and antisemitism were "primitive stupidity" (bigotry) or a "mental illness" (disease).

Can't recall what the conclusion of that talk was, but whenever Kanye does something like this, I'm reminded of that question.

Mental illess can definitely make you more susceptible to rhetoric that preys on vulnerable feelings.

If you suffer from paranoid thoughts and delusions and someone is consistently drumming it into your head that a certain group is doing something shady, it's not hard to imagine someone being taken in by it. Especially when any question or comment that can be mildly construed as right leaning will have people lining up to call you a piece of shit who is just spreading hateful rhetoric.

If people with mental illnesses acted like rational, discerning individuals all the time, they wouldn't be mentally ill.

They will make you hateful, and with the right push from wrong people, you will direct the hate to certain group of people.

The sad part about this is, this behavior will continue and people will excuse it, a local radio station I sometimes hear had people who still like Kanye west despite this because they're fans of his music, we've reached the point where outright bigotry and hate speech are equalized as "Well that's just his opinion, people are allowed to have opinions we don't all agree with". There are no standards anymore the same goes for Chris Brown still having a career despite being a known abuser and violent man "As long as it doesn't affect me, I don't care" mentality has paved the way for a lot of awful shit and I fear it's only gonna get worse as time goes on.
