I didn't realize this had already come out. Just watched the first episode. That was kind of fantastic.

I could have sworn there was another topic for this but anyway. Great show, basically the Boys season 3.5. Ending was a bit jarring though, I hate we now gotta wait forever for the next one.

I still wonder if Shetty is really dead or not.

It's a good show but it lacks good characters. I could maybe take it over The Boys S2 but it's light years behind Seasons 3 and 1.

Yeah I could agree with that. The characters don't really stand out persay.

I'd disagree with this, I think most of the cast is pretty great, although Marie and Andre can be a little dull at times, and I don't care for Sam's turn at the end.

I don't know where I rank it compared to The Boys, but I think it's mostly on par

I'm pretty cool with them. Fan of Marie/Jordan, then Emma's struggles have always been very endearing.

Without getting into it Cate & Sam's roles make a lot of sense which is kind of a rarity for The Boys baddies who are more on the nose parody baddies. Although I guess Sam was kind of already being done with the path Ryan is left at the end of s3.

More whatever on Andre but hey I like the actor from Sabrina. Sucks for him on the likeability front that cheating on his best friend's girl is a much uglier secret than the other cast members revealed that episode. And yeah this franchise is all about flawed people but Andre doesn't really get much else beyond his relationship with Cate. It was a nice scene though in the finale where Cate offered her hand to him, to see him let her down & hesitate on it. Honestly can't even tell what Cate would've done if he gave his hand to her and I like that. I was also interested in seeing him go to his dad's side by the end despite their earlier conflicts, but it is a pretty empty arc for now.

Yeah Sam's complete 180 near the end was really weird and out of character for me. I wasn't the biggest fan of that. Like he just completely abandoned the literal only person that's ever been on his side. I don't get it.

I second the motion that the cast is nothing particularly special. The show is excellent, but unlike The Boys itself that features some truly excellent and memorable characters, the main roll call here sports a number of likable, inoffensive B+ players. I am very invested in the show, yet not any of the stars. I think that's why The Boys part of the show does a lot of heavy lifting - its connection and its tonality are the real stars of the show, and it certainly filled the vacuum of The Boys in a way that was far more than just serviceable. It was great.

yeah I agree on it being quick, particularly so regarding the Emma flip

althoughhhh hating non-supes isn't a stretch for Sam to that point. it's not like there was ever a time he was actually pro-normie and switched, he's even shown to already be incredibly violent killing them in self-defence. in some regard it's actually a pretty apt portrayal of people getting into quick infatuations without actually knowing someone's true beliefs yet - like I said Emma & Sam have only known each other for a couple days despite idealizing each other so fast. in contrast you have Marie & Jordan who've known each other a bit more but are going at more normal, slow pace

Yeah I definitely think it was quick, and I think that's mostly a symptom of the 8- episode season. I feel like one more would've been helpful

we definitely had time to see Cate flip, so he transition into violent desperation was more believable, but there was nothing to suggest Sam would turn on Emma like that and in particular be so cruel about it

Also Sam trusting or being on Cate's side when she was directly responsible for keeping him in the woods and basically causing Golden Boy's death was another reason for his trunk being weird.

Just finished it. I agree that I like the show and where it went, but I felt the characters were a little lacking. Which is weird, because I found most of them likable. But if you compare Gen V's cast to The Boys Season 1's cast, The Boys just felt like they had a far more complete and rounded out cast and every character's arc felt like it went somewhere.

It definitely feels like a spin-off. That said, it's a good spin-off! I think Golden Boy was my favorite student character
