Im going with 3, but it seems like its having the opposite effect

When their movies bomb or they include minority characters, they're woke. If said movies end up becoming smash hits, they turn based and anti-woke, and all memory of them being called woke is in your mind.

Rinse and repeat for each new movie released.

The modern use Woke means nothing, and everything.

I haven't gotten to that part of the book yet

Woke has lost all meaning. Disney has a quality control problem that some people falsely attribute to increased representation. But that aint it. Quality is quality. Sony made the best marvel movie in the last 5 years, not Disney. (Spiderverse, which has plenty of representation)

For many people the shallow virtual signaling manipulation of people for corporate profit is a defining element of "wokeness" as such I don't believe your poll offers valid options.

Many make the argument that big greedy Disney "doing a half-assed job at a live action remake and then suggesting that those who don't like it dislike it out of racist/sexism, only to further leverage the constructed outrage/debate as advertisement for the product, all to fund their bottom line" isn't a bug of wokeism but a core design element.

And frankly that is a point of view I'm not unsympathetic towards.

It varies from movie to movie and studio to studio. I think some studios mandate a certain level of wokeness (for want of a better term) and others let the writer/director do as they will.

It also doesn't help that woke doesn't have a set definition. "Basic book for dickheads," etc.

I associate "woke" with the third option, to a degree.
