Well many of you dont have to imagine, you already feel that way lol. All the skilled labor, hard work, and infrastructure that goes into building that amazing platform and for some reason a lot of you feel like you own that. What about YouTube do you own or what do you do in your day to day life to get the service for free?

Im fascinated by the way people justify it. They twist themselves into very odd logical positions to make it conform to morality.

People seem to forget that YouTube didn't always have in-video ads. Sidebar ads are much more palatable without breaking up the user experience. Now YouTube will interrupt the middle of a video to force another ad.

You don't see how that negatively impacts user experience?

Because that's the way it was for years before things tilted further and further in favor of shareholder value than user experience and product quality, and Google was still making money hand over fist.

There's no moral dilemma. No twisty logic is required.

The creators of the content made that content freely available.

Imagine actually simping for ads.

YouTube will place ads on videos where the creator declined and take all the ad money instead of the normal split. Not to mention the sheer amount of ads now. Multiple unskippable 15-30 second ads at the start and throughout the video.

Most creators making money from doing youtube are getting money through sponsors and subscriptions, not ads.

If youtube wants to place intrusive ads on every video, then I will gladly block all ads on youtube.

It's okay for you to use an adblocker. I did.
It's also okay for them to combat the use of an adblocker.

Will I subscribe to Youtube Premium? No.
Will I cold turkey quit Youtube? No.
I will, however, consume much less Youtube. Gone are the days where I'm going to sample someone's content if I have to sit through an ad. I think that sentiment will be pretty popular as well.

I'll stick to the few content creators I've gathered that I enjoy regularly and just listen to streaming shows/movies outside of that. I won't be clicking on Asmongold's 300th hot take, for example.

I'll also keep things like this in mind when purchasing products like phones.

It also depends on if they have this huge ad that pushes the discussion text around.

The only site I will never turn off adblockers from is Ebaumsworld. And yes, I still go there. Man that place has the most aggressive ads.

There seems to be a misunderstanding. I do not feel entitled to ad free Youtube. I just don't like the direction Youtube has taken. Once they were a site where people could share videos without earning money in their minds. I was cool with that and would have accepted small ads here and there. Now they are everywhere, for minutes, even between videos. They became necessary to fund thousands of video creators since everyone wants to earn money these days. I'm not interested in watching them. It's as simple as that. Youtube isn't important to me, so as long as they throw countless ads onto me, I don't feel the urge to visit their site anymore.

Also if the creator doesn't go out of their way to manually place the ads, youtube will auto place ads which often just interrupt the flow of the video.

Cable TV got away with long ad breaks in between shows, because the shows are designed around an ad break halfway through and so the flow isn't lost.

It's time to bring back metacafe or vimeo
