I mean, it's not hurting anyone... but it kind of defeats the purpose of brushing if you immediately expose your teeth to foods afterwards.

That is actually the correct way. You're supposed to brush away the bacteria that built up over night.

I always grew up thinking that you brush after breakfast because you clean your teeth after eating

If you do it immediately after eating its supposed to be bad for your teeth. Eating softens your enamel of some shit. Idk, I don't get cavities because of awesome mouth genetics

I mean, I don't think that the bacteria in your mouth that built up over the night will become problematic if you breakfast first, and brush the theeth 15 minutes later, so I don't see the actual benefit of the "right" way.

Eh... Probably? I'm no clean room anyways.

I mean, the first thing I do in the morning is drinking some water anyways, and I'm honestly afraid to google how much salvia you "drink" during a night.

Never fucking knew this. Never did a dentist tell me this. Guess it doesn't really matter anymore since I haven't had an actual breakfast in such a long time and just brush my teeth before heading out in the morning and at night.

Why would you eat without brushing after?

Basically, a big contributor is our teeth/jaw are not adapted for our modern diet.

Why would you eat without brushing after?

You should, but not right away.

The suggestion is to do it 20-30 minutes after to let your enamel build back up.

You better off rinsing with non-alcohol mouthwash or pop a piece of sugar free gum in your mouth directly after each meal.

Best effort is to brush when you wake up/before you eat, and then brush/floss as the last activity before you so to bed.

Sincerely,

A 45 year old with zero cavities.

Why do you not want your wisdom teeth removed? They're useless and can cause serious problems.

I brush after, and I've read the science.

Neither path is perfect. After is supposedly bad for enamel. But left over food is also bad for enamel, since bacteria eat it and shit acid out, and contribute to gingivitis, breath, etc.

Starving the bacteria seems common sense to me.

Regardless of what is actually true, my mouth feels best if I brush after.

Ok, as someone who was in your shoes, I suggest getting rid of them asap. I waited 30 years, and as a result my teeth are basically stuck together with no room in between. Regular floss breaks when I try to floss.

There's also the fact that my wisdom teeth got infected but it was subtle and I didn't know for a few years. I knew the gum hurt, but I thought it was due to them being cleaned recently.

Get them pulled, and never have to think about them again.
