When is it time to hang it up?

Im thinkin Ill stick around until they actually close the forums down. But I have my doubts if they will actually do that. Does this site still generate income just from the ads shown to the visitors or something?

Also, the funnier part of all this is that Gamefaqs and/or its parent company has probably been sold 4-8 times during that time.

It would be a terrible, terrible place. But I'd like to think my corner of it would be a lovely fantasy kingdom protected by massive walls (of text).


But we all know it's going to be a totalitarian empire where dissent is ruthlessly punished, and the misery of the peasants is music to the Dark Emperor's ears.

What if we're narcissistic enough to love ourselves but also cooperative enough to be willing to embrace our other selves, and thus form an unstoppable army of other selves that can work together perfectly in sync?

Better yet, what if the gimmick accounts manifest as their gimmick rather than their creator? That would make at least one of my alts a time-traveling Victorian gentleman with vast knowledge about every possible subject. We could sit around in our imperial drawing room and have endless conversations!

Well that I get but the point remains that he conceded authority over the site, much like CJay did.

Although I do wonder if it's all that he says it is or if Fandom's intervention had some hand in it.

From my understanding, the Fandom acquisition was different from the others in that they wanted to integrate the "management" of the site into their group rather than just making a separate group under their umbrella. That is what SBAllen was talking about last year when he introduced DToast as the new site "Admin".

Pure speculation, but I assume SBAllen left because he didn't like what Fandom was expecting from him. He would much prefer to actually run it as its own entity like it was under CBS and Red Ventures rather than integrated into the rest of the Fandom monolith.
