It's huge. My job would be just east of OHare international airport but I'd only come into the office a couple times a month, so there's flexibility as to where in Chicago I live.

Google apartments in Chicago then narrow down to apartments near your office.

There were some condos downtown for like 150k when I went there last year. Seemed like a steal to me.

Then youre going to live in a suburb outside Chicago if you want to not drive an hour, look for apartments in like Naperville, oak park area probably

Honestly? Hire a realtor for apartments. Make sure that you only hire one who gets paid by the landlord of the new apartment that you rent, not you. That's how my wife and I found this amazing 3 BR. You just gotta tell them price range, neighborhood, BR size, and any amenities you're looking for.

Figure out where you want to live first, what your priorties are. I lived in Oak Park and loved it. Easy access to city with both L and Metra stops, commute wouldn't be too bad for you. Lots of history, good food and community.

Yeah it's the neighborhood thing I need advice on more. I don't understand like how crime distribution works in Chicago and how to know I'm picking somewhere sensible when it's basically just a sea of names. I'm looking at oak park right now

I meant to say Oak Brook lol. Nice suburb not far from ohare. Oak park is nice too, close to Chicago

if only there was some app that had access to maps of the greater chicago area so you could see neighborhoods you might be interested to live in and if only there were a thing like bulletin boards you could access through your phone with apartment or house listings to rent or buy

The thing about moving to a new city of state I was always weary of is if its a safe neighborhood to live or walk around.

Also, what pricing is a red flag? I'm a fresh grad so I'm just looking for like a studio or 1br and I can give up some luxury to get the price down, but what price is "too good to be true" no matter what

I would assume anything under 1,200-1,500 these days

The apartment complex there is getting torn down so most of the troublemakers will go to another part of the city
