It's not going to happen unless the site changes so much that it loses its value to many of the existing users. It's the internet equivalent of that old-style venue that's outdated and irrelevant to the current generation so has mostly disappeared but some older people still enjoy having just one or two of them around.

I honestly think there's a large audience for text based game guides, but GameFAQs would have to change the way they're presented significantly.
Even so, we still have some of the best guides for certain games, like Hyrule Warriors and the Yakuza series.

Combine all consoles to one message board and have the tags display which console its about. All game series that's on multiple platforms should have just one message board and tags for console. Let people submit screened comments/questions without needing an account.

I think the only thing that might work is integrating the faqs and forums into the wikia system.

Wikis stole a ton of faq traffic
