i actually think all of the little extra bits, like new thigh plates or something the plavsky booster balster ship whatever comes with, will actually work with this thing

i bought a whatever the hell a g-frame kit is

it was on sale for $6, so why not.

also got two little pokemon kits and a vegeta kit, also all on "clearance" or whatever hobby lobbys approximation is. the Pikachu kit was not in sale and was only $2 more than the others so w/e. i grabbed mew and alcremie

Hobby Lobby does have good deals sometimes but their selection is often limited when it comes to model kits

oh it's very limited, compared to the car model kits which is an entire aisle, the bandai stuff is an end cap at this one.

i wanted to get some of those pour type gundam markers but they didn't have any. just the regular fine point black and gray, and like a metallic silver one.

I mostly use the Real Touch Markers for panel lining, along with Citadel Nuln Oil on occasion

it's non-standard so doubt it

like you get the frame, and then you pull apart the armor off of the other frame it is on, to put it onto the slightly better frame, it's like, maybe almost 2 dozen pieces total, and they consist of just slotting into a peg.

the first frame that the armor already comes on it called the display frame, and it has 0 articulation, the other frame is the action frame, and it has...elbows and shoulders. then the display frame breaks down into a goofy yet slightly sinister looking base

the molding is bad, the paint is bad, they did what looks like 0 cleanup of any kind at the factory so you can see stress marks and nubs

idk, idk what the point of this is, apparently there's a ton of them, but even if they're meant for just display, i don't think they display very good. like i am offended to have this on the shelf next to even the sloppiest kit i've done

it was like 12 pieces, literally they're spending more on packaging just for you to assemble it yourself. it's a nice soft feeling plastic though, and it's really cute, so whatever.

It sucks when you get one on just right but the opposite one won't align and it rips when you keep moving it around and then the model isn't symmetrical anymore

i guess i should try and get better at waterslides

just grab an eg of something and just use the waterslides i've gotten from various kits they came with

i want to start doing those fancier optional decal stuff. the rg hi-nu made me decide to do the regular sticker ones and the ones i did do, i did very few, made it pop all that more better so

i still hate stickers, and waterslides aren't gonna change that, cuz the stickers i'm talking about are from the sd kits, where they try to do way too much with a single sticker that's even remotely possible

i thing usags glass files are better than dspaes

idk why you'd need 3, they dont seem easily breakable, but you get three with like slighty different corners

so far in my procrastination station of not building the mg freedom is

two pokemon, vegeta, sd 00, the booster backpack thing, reposed and redistributed near every model i've previously done on the one shelf, added backlighting to said shelf, reposed a couple on the other, notably just the eg galaxy, lah, and rg hi nu, reshuffled the backlog on that shelf to fit most everything except they still don't fit so i did the sd to make room for one of the two smaller boxes that aren't fitting but it still doesn't fit because it's too thick of a box

and all i've made on the freedom is two feet, and one leg, started it on the 15th of january

i had thoughts that i might have gotten burned out a bit, but that doesn't seem to be the case, i'm just avoiding the freedom for whatever reason i haven't figured out yet

i do have an update though, i've done the waist on the mg freedom the other day

also yeah, i've been gravitating towards the usags files over dspaies, the pattern on the usags ones are diamondy instead of just diagonal lines, and i feel like i can more easily file and get a smoother finish with them. they also aren't a pain to clean, you can sort of see through them so you can more accurately position yourself on the piece

i think the dspai one removes more material in one slide, however, but that's negligible to me

and i will never spell their name right it's just impossible

My favorite glass file is a cheap one from Amazon that was meant for fingernails

i tried one of those and the rough bits came off of it

even with my finger nail it just flaked off, i didn't really know what to think about that

i can't justify purchasing that like $50 raser one though, that's just absurd

I haven't tried the Tamiya nippers. I've been told that the USAGS single-bladed nipper is good for the price.

i don't think i like single bladed ones, idk, i just can't get used to them very good

also the new seed kits are finally showing up in shops, i might add the freedom to the backlog

i had to put blutack on the back of the bottom of the stand, because it's front heavy and wanted to tip over with little effort. i hope it's good enough, because where this guy fits, is only the top shelf, and it's a long, 7 foot drop to the hard floor.
