My grandma took a beating within an inch of her life from my so called 'grandfather' in 1972. We're talking jaw wired shut for SEVEN WEEKS kind of beating. She could have taken it, but no. She fucking divorced his ass in '73 when most people didn't even think you COULD initiate a divorce as a woman. Then she became the first president of the single parents club in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan :3 Oh, and she was a member of multiple provincial championship softball teams in her day. She pretty cool, lol.

And my mom was in a car crash in the 80s bad enough to require a neck brace for months, too.

Fuck man, I shouldn't be here, LMAO.

But you should be! You can do it! The hardest parts are already almost behind you!

GG OP. First week is rough, after that it lets up. Quit caffeine 1.5 weeks ago drinking 2/energy drinks a day, craved it but now it doesn't even bother me a whole lot. Also lack of caffeine/nicotine (quit smoking year ago) really gives me calmer disposition.

You're on the right track, keep it up.

I smoked for over a decade, started as a senior in High School.

Quit several years back and the strange thing is, I don't get the craving for tobacco or smoking at all anymore, but sometimes I'll have dreams where I'm sneaking a smoke or started the habit up again.

For me, I quit because I got so frustrated with being controlled by a company selling me a product that was slowly killing me, and late one winter night when I was about to get bundled up and go out into the icy cold for a pack of smokes so I could have one last smoke before bed - I stopped while holding my sneakers and said to myself "NOPE"... and went to bed instead.

You just need to be at a point where you want to quit TC, sounds like you might be there.

This is why cold turkey is a bad idea.

Yeah, the next part of my story from the last post is that after that night I ended up buying a few packs and tapering off over the next week or two.

But...the first victory had been achieved, a mental victory... I think TC is there, I went from a pack a day for years, to half a pack for a few days, to just a few, to none.

Can't even remember my actual last cigarette, but I remember when I had made up my mind to quit.

because my boy asked me to. and he knows my willpower - he would not have asked me if it did not mean a lot to him. i dont want him to have to worry about what might crop up when we're older

this is insane. i think im clinically dead. i already had a pretty low heart rate for a smoker to begin with. like mid 60s. if its already going down this much does that mean ill become a zombie soon

50 is "cigarettes" - that's what nicotine does.

Cold turkey vs. tapering off is a debate that only has an answer depending on each individual person.

If you don't want to quit, tapering off is typically much harder than just going cold turkey, since you're still actively feeding it. Tapering off is more effective when you actually want to quit.
