Yeah, that was something else. The GOP controlled the House, the Senate and the Presidency and it still got shut down. And budget bills dont need to pass a filibuster so they didnt need a single Democrat vote to prevent a shutdown.

Even with him being a backstabber, he still made deals with the Dem side of the House to at least keep the government open.

First off, the Dems did not gamble. Kevin made a decision and he has to live with it. Second, Jordan isn't becoming Speaker. He simply doesn't have the votes.

Duh, but I had to also deal with a family member who really thought the Dems should have sucked it up to keep McCarthy in, and dismissed my argument of if the GOP would have done the same (toss out a Dem house leader) if the situation was flipped due to the current hatred between parties.
