Sure. It probably doesnt help that in 17 years he has passed zero pieces of legislation but thinks hed be a good Speaker. A position that is in charge of passing legislation.

Thing is that sounds similar to the situation McCarthy was in with the Freedom Caucus. They were a no, and then a million concessions were made and they became a yes.

Even if the opposition hates Jordan, if Jordan is literally the only option even close to getting the votes then saying no is basically saying you never want a Speaker. Eventually someone has to cave.

But if they want to look more obstructionist than the Freedom Caucus, they're free to do so. It's good entertainment either way.

Gaetz club is never going for it, a Speaker who thinks like that would need Dem. votes instead, which aren't remotely likely.

Scalise was the most reasonable guy they were ever going to get. If Dems didn't budge for him there's nobody less extreme who still appeals to the common Republican. (and thus it'd be political suicide for the GOP to nominate them)

Gotta remember that 139 House Republicans voted to overturn the 2020 election. The majority of the party there is fascist. They will not have a non-fascist represent them.

This is crazy as hell. It's no wonder the US' credit rating was downgraded.

Quiet as it's kept, the GOP's constant debt ceiling fights and shut down threats were the reason the US credit rating was downgraded. The country is rightly deemed a greater credit risk than before everytime they take power.

This Speaker fight is just another log in the dumpster fire.
