The last thing Trump is, is subtle. He'd start bragging about it, and either be assassinated or have it taken away from him somehow.

A bunch of Trump's enemies dropping dead day 1 would set off alarm bells. Though I imagine his cult would just call it "An act of God".

Following the plot of the one off: he would be dead if he took it. Further applying it, the world would know he was lying about having it because he wouldn't hesitate to start righting the names of his enemies in it so there would be no believable threat.

They are referring to a sequel to Death Note. There was a single chapter sequel set years after the end of the manga. And some of the rules changed
