There's plenty of people out there aware of, and compassionate of, mental health crises in people. There's a growing movement of acceptance that mental health crises need to be addressed and dealt with by not-cops, and resources, while decentralized and fragmented, are numerous and available. Eight states have been able to fund the 988 crisis line, and not enough others have. But, among others, the federal government are working on making that nationally available. Slowly but surely.
