Happened to a female college student. She got caught with a little bit of drugs, and they threatened her into becoming an informant. Otherwise she would go to prison for up to 6 years.

They made her make contact with super dangerous people and to buy drugs and a gun. But the people figured out she was working with the cops, and killed her

Cops refused to take responsibility, and denied it was their fault

That's kinda how the cops roll, they'll use you then either throw you away or neglect you after all they lose nothing, if you end up dead then oh well, if you don't then they can either renge on the deal and throw you in prison anyway or hold your crimes over your head any time they want to make you do their work for them. It can't be said enough, no matter who you are, the Police are not there to protect you they are there to protect the government's interest and their own agendas. Police don't even protect other police if they deem them not "part of the club" so to speak. The whole system is rotten, just utterly dirtied by special interests, abusers and sadists
