From newer products. Seem like they wont make new cards with those creature types citing religious reasons
Worc has been virtue signaling for a while (cause they actually suck and are greedy like what happened with the DnD ogl) and its been getting annoying. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/9/4/0/AAHS2BAAE5N8.jpg

MTG probably believes-

Nah, better not go there.

yet I bet they don't retire Priest type creatures

As someone who spent many years as a pagan, this is a dumb move. I don't think pagans are offended by this kind of thing. This is not necessary

I'd take that bet.

Well, I'd take the bet that by the time that you've read this post there will still be 0 priest typed cards as that isn't a Creature type in Magic.

Lmao. We understood when they banned certain cards under cultural sensitivity reasons, like gypsies (though wtf with crusade). But this is trying to fix a problem where there isnt one

But I'm sure they have stuff like a priest even if they don't call it that. Do they have an cards that use the word Cleric?

Cleric is a valid creature type, so yes.

As for whether or not those are also on the chopping block is uncertain. They have made mention for a while on removing all of their religious references and have been on the fence for a while. Hence why the actual article says "may", even if TC's topic title does not (whether or not you want to view that as extremely disingenuous is up to you).

The sensationalism made my eyes skip that word it seems. Well still a possibility, but Id wager that they wouldnt go through with it. Its too much.

It was just a post on Mark Rosewater's Tumblr saying they're having talks about the creature types. Not something they're actually doing, at least not yet.

They might site religious reasons, but I always feel like 90% of the time I see this it's "we wanted to stop doing a thing and want to get woke points for it as opposed to the real reason".

Kind of like businesses used "protect the environment" to cut costs and remove stuff.

I remember them censoring stuff when they wanted Walmart to sell the cards in the early 90's. Changing the artwork on unholy might, problems with demonic tutor/pact.

Kind of like businesses used "protect the environment" to cut costs and remove stuff.

Back in 95/96ish they removed pentagrams from some illustrations and scaled back use of "Demon" and "Demonic" due to criticism from religious groups.. I think late 90s' early 2000s Rosewater actually wrote an article about these things more mainstream parts of culture and thus WoTC deciding to reintegrate as appropriate.

But what would be the "real reason" to axe druids and shamans?

Did Halsin bang Shadowheart in some WotC exec's playthrough?

I wouldnt call druid a creature type. I see them as a class type.

Kamahl was a human barbarian but dropped the barbarian part and became a human druid.
