They put out a software fix, you can get it for free.
I've seen some posts saying it worked and others that it doesn't, but at least they're trying.

Kias and Hyundais are sold all over the world, including many countries poorer than the U.S., and yet this is a uniquely U.S. problem.
How about we hold the fucking criminals responsible? So many of them get caught, released, then steal and crash another one the same fucking day.

They created the problem in the first place by leaving out the immobilizers. Other countries were strict on this. But the US lets these corporations get away with so much.

the fix doesnt work. It makes them waste an extra minute of time. The best fix is put the club in the wheel and throw in an AirTag and hope they dont crash. Its mostly juvies doing the thefts, they just break the window and take off. Only one time I saw they actually sawed the off the club and steering wheel lol. Took off off the driving the knob

I tell anyone to sell their Kia or Hyundai if they have already. Its like a plague right now. The amount of calls we get about them is insane

Have a source that Kia/Hyundai included immobilizers in other countries but not the US models?
I couldn't find one.

God, this sucks. I've taken my car on work trips but I think I'm going to refuse to going forward.
I bet this is the real reason my insurance rate shot up by 20% the last 6 month renewal, too....

So...treat them like adults and throw them in fucking jail?!
People are literally dying from this shit.
Prosecutors need to stop treating this like a fucking joke. The Las Vegas murderer outright boasted he'd be out on the streets again in 2 hours or less.

*when you have a 20 year old and 10 year old car, and are being told it's the 10 year old car you need to sell*
:(
I can't even afford to replace the 20 year old one right now

My Stinger GT already has an immobilizer, but even if it didn't I don't worry about it being stolen since I park it in my garage and I don't work or go anywhere near the hood.

The biggest problem is that even if you take the car in and get it fixed, or have a model that doesn't have the security issues, it doesn't matter because you're still gonna get your window smashed.

Crazy that both Hyundai and Kia were just about to finally overcome their 90s/00s reputation, and then they just fumble it this hard lmao

Kias were the butt of every car joke 20 years ago, glad they're back where they belong. At this point Kias and Hyundais should just stop being sold in the US. It doesn't matter if they put the immobilizers in newer model year versions, the teenager planning on stealing a Kia isn't going to stop and say "oh this is a 2023 model, I'll leave it alone", you're still at the very least getting your window broken.

Why are you glad? My Stinger kicks ass, and I have the KDM badging on mine anyway, so the average hood rat won't even know it's a KIA.

The front of mine looks like this but my car is more of a matte gray.

In the US, engine immobilizers were not legally required so Kia and Hyundai didnt put them into their cars (other than the higher trims with push to start). Some people found out you could take off part of the steering column thingy and start the car with a usb cable, posted it on tiktok, and now dumbfuck kids steal peoples cars and joyride/crash them.

If you have a model year prior to 2022 that uses a key, youre at risk of it getting stolen, if you have a push start youre still at risk of your window getting smashed. Get one of the many aftermarket badge replacements as a slight deterrent

Luckily my K5 has the new badge (2022+) and the Kia Boyz seem to realize those ones cant be stolen any more easily than other brands.

Aside from the theft issues, the Koreans have been absolutely killing it the last few years.

you have more chance of it getting stolen in nice neighborhoods. Thats the trend. They steal one and roll 5-6 deep, and drive around in nice neighborhoods for cars to steal. Or theyll have a driver on a block and just go up and down the block checking car door handles

They can steal your car with just a screwdriver and usb in under 30 seconds. And your year is the first year they can do that lol

Dont forget to change the transmission fluid every 30k

Nissans are decent cars but god those CVTs can be awful compared to the ones other brands use

On a work trip I had a Soul as a rental and it was by far the biggest POS I've ever drove. My 99 GMC Sonoma felt rock solid in comparison, and that didn't have power locks or windows.
