You know what I was thinking about a lot of things from block busters to TV specials. Since I had some of that stuff on my mind when I started to write this topic. However I don't think I miss anything beyond remembering how at felt at the time.

But Food did use to taste better. Beyond that new stuff rocks . Besides gear shifts, f--- that dial.

Nothing. I'm not so old as to be stuck in my past.

The only thing I really long for are Munch Ems and Wheatables snack crackers. Though this topic just made me google for alternatives and now I have to try ranch Cheez it Grooves.

When I was a kid one of my local tv stations would air horror movies on Saturdays at midnight (so I guess technically Sunday morning) during the summer. Was the first place I saw movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, and Friday the 13th.
I kind of miss that despite being subscribed to multiple streaming services, including a dedicated horror one.
Same channel would also air the og Star Trek during the week at midnight, which I also kind of miss.

I guess renting video games.

Recording TV shows with VHS

Older games look a lot better on CRT tvs. Super Mario RPG looks totally different, even emulator filters don't quite capture the difference.

Cd cases were cool. I love the musical variety/discovery we have now but I miss my cds sometimes.

This is where I'm at. I always think I want this or that from the past but any time I've actually gotten it, it doesn't hit like it used to. It's easier just to cherish the memories and move on to new things.

Midi and chiptune compositions. Especially ones you could loop for hours on end without noticing or getting tired of.

It was an underrated art form to be able to accomplish that.

90s commercials.

Though I'd prefer having no commercials at all, I occasionally see them through 90s nostalgia accounts.

However, modern commercials that are inclusive of non-heteronormative demographics are definitely better in a moral sense; I feel 90s commercials were more creative in content and messaging.

the hd600 was released in 1997 and is still my fave headphone even tho it sucks at bass compared to newer headphones and iems. yeah

i feel angry whenever ppl say hd600 is outdated and no longer great value

No Internet existing

The journey is part of a voyage.

So honestly, there will always be something missing from just getting everything from the internet, even when it is something you don't have any actual reason to still want (like, say, going someplace where you can actually touch a product that has touch as an important aspect, like bedding, clothing, etc).

Not being born

I hate that newer model cars don't come with CD players anymore.

I also miss going to a video rental place and picking something out. That was more fun than scrolling through Netflix for an hour, deciding I don't actually want to watch anything, and going to bed.

You still get Saturday morning cartoons. it is just that now they have their own dedicated channels on Cable/Satellite.

I miss the golden age of video game arcages. Going there to play all those wonderful games that had better graphics than what you could get on a home console.

Kinda just the fact that all entertainment now is tied up with the internet.

It was actually perfectly fine if not better pre internet being everywhere.

I miss my health, my youth, and my now dead relatives. And maybe some sense of optimism, because in spite of the War on Terror, there was still some real hopeful momentum left prior to the '08 recession, and things afterward sort stumbled until we began our recent downward spiral as a civilization.

nothing, maybe toys that aren't idiot proof(not really), and that 90s jdm cars are increasingly difficult to purchase.

Does instruction booklets in game cases count? I don't know anyone who considers the "electronic manual" accessed from the game to be superior.
If not... strategy guides were fun, the actual books. Obviously having FAQs and walkthroughs and even video guides is superior, but...I liked the Prima and other guides...

Also miss phone booths and I don't know why, b/c I used them maybe once my entire life.

Social media has destroyed my friendships over time. Not because of falling outs or anything like that but like a gradual distancing that happened due to the apathy and frequency of contact. If I married my friends we would have the equivalent of a dead bedroom.

That's unfortunate. For me it's helped maintain older friendships to at least a state where I can message them (providing they would respond regardless) or at least comment on their updates, establishing communication.

Though I will say it's been a pretty one-way street. I can only think of one person who I don't associate with at least semi-regularly in person that will occasionally messages to see how I'm doing, but other than her I have to initiate contact. Which is lamentable, but not exactly a steep price.

I also miss when youtube was full of people sharing their passions instead of chasing the monetization algorithm.

Lego making their own universe/theme sets instead of licensed ones.

Jack in the box used to have this desert that was basically like a giant chocolate zinger, but with a little bit of white icing on the top in the shape of a star or a flower or something. I was sad that when I grew up they were discontinued for chocolate lava cakes.

They do and they're missed. A lot of printed media, including Videogame magazines, was fun.
