It was... kinda terrible.

They made the odd decision to have it be a musical and... that wasn't a good idea.

The actors were dull and uncompelling, with this being possibly the worst Roxanne I'd seen yet, I absolutely loathed the actress in the role. Definitely no where near Daryl Hannah's more likable Roxanne.

Peter Dinklage was the best part of the movie, the only one with any modicum of charm and appeal, but even then, his singing voice makes Russell Crowe's singing in Les Mis seem amazing by comparison.

Just so many odd decisions with this movie that were also executed poorly. And yet it seems to be extremely highly rated on RT by even the audience, not just critics. Makes me wonder if we watched the same movie.

I thought it was fine, but I've seen no other adaptation so have nothing to compare it to. And I'm not a very harsh critic. I can sit through most things and not consider my time wasted.

I liked Steve Martin's Roxanne and the Cyrano movie with Gerard Depardieu which was pretty fitting casting

Peter Dinklage really fell off after Game of Thrones didn't he?

He was excellent in that and then "meh" to poor in everything since.

It came out in 2021, so I'm going to assume it was back when cinemas were limiting so people were happy to see just about anything, hence the absurdly high rating.

I could see that... I on the other hand thought it was an example of just how terrible the soundtrack is, and how generically meh the choreography was, though Dinklage's facial expressions throughout the scene were hilarious.

If I were to say a song that was kinda sort had potential to be good, it was "heaven is wherever I fall" near the end. The lyrics and actual scene were cringe as fuck, but I thought the chorus part was catchy and could have been used in a better movie and scene.

He did pretty good playing the villain in the latest Transformers movie. Sounds like relished chewing the scenery.

It's the score that screamed Danny Elfman "Batman" to me. It didn't help that it came out only a year after "Batman".

I tried to watch it, didn't make it far before I had to turn it off. Doesn't help that the trailer I saw didn't depict it as a musical, so that part caught me off guard.

I like good musicals, though, this just wasn't one.
